The public comment period for the proposed FY 2025 budget is open until 4:30 p.m. Monday, June 3. Residents are encouraged to submit comments by email or mail them to the BOCC at 175 Main St., Prince Frederick, MD 20678. View the draft budget at www.calvertcountymd.gov/FY25.


The BOCC will hold public hearings on Tuesday, June 4, 2024, at 10:30 a.m. to present and receive comments regarding proposed increases to the real property tax and county income tax rates. Find more information on the public hearings calendar.

Applications are being accepted for a new Student Safety and Well-being Advisory Committee (SSWAC). The committee will be charged with making recommendations to improve the learning environment and ensure the safety and security of students and staff.

Emergency Management will conduct a full-cycle test of the alert and notification sirens Monday, June 3, at noon. The test includes a three-minute activation of all sirens within the 10-mile area around Calvert Cliffs Nuclear Power Plant.


The testing is conducted to check siren operation and increase public awareness of the alert and notification siren system. If the sirens sound at any time outside of scheduled testing, tune to a local radio stations for information. Learn more about siren testing.

Make this a summer to remember with a new canine companion from the Linda L. Kelley Animal Shelter. The shelter has an abundance of dogs of different sizes, ages and breeds. All adoptable dogs are tested for heartworm, microchipped, vaccinated and spayed/neutered.
