Citizens who wish to provide public comment are invited to attend public meetings or can provide comment by dialing in by phone at the published time. To provide dial-in comment, call 301-715-8592 and enter the Meeting ID 899 4188 8251 and passcode #. Callers will be provided further instruction during the meeting on how to indicate you wish to speak.

The BOCC will hold a public hearing May 16 on the commissioners' operating and capital improvement budget.

“Chalk the Walk” to raise awareness for children’s mental health. The third annual Chalk the Walk recognizes Children's Mental Health Awareness Week. Drop-in chalk events will be hosted from May 6-11.


Draw chalk pictures or messages on designated public sidewalks to help reduce stigma and encourage conversations about children's mental health. Share photos and join the conversation on social media using #CalvertMentalHealthMatters.

The Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration will host an informational open house about MD 231 improvements.

These service tests check water flow, water level and general water qualities like odor, cloudiness and color. These checks may include tests for contaminants like E. coli/coliform bacteria, nitrates, lead, volatile organic compounds, radon, pesticides or saltwater intrusion.

☑️ Voter Registration: Eligible residents can register to vote at any voting location during early voting and on primary election day.


☑️ Vote by Mail: Requests for electronically-delivered ballots must be submitted by Friday, May 10; requests for in-person pickup of ballots may be made by Tuesday, May 14. To complete an application online, visit vote.md.gov/NeedBallot or call the Calvert County Board of Elections at 410-535-2214. 


☑️ Ballot Drop Boxes: Voters may submit the completed ballot by mail using the included prepaid envelope or by placing it in one of the four secure drop boxes provided throughout the county, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, until Tuesday, May 14, at 8 p.m.:


  • Community Resources Building, 30 Duke St. in Prince Frederick
  • Southern Community Center, 20 Appeal Lane in Lusby
  • Calvert Library Fairview Branch, 8120 Southern Maryland Blvd. in Owings
  • Northeast Community Center, 4075 Gordon Stinnett Ave. in Chesapeake Beach


☑️ Transportation: During the 2024 primary election in Calvert County residents have access to various transportation providers. Regularly scheduled public transportation service will be available during early voting and on primary election day. Visit www.CalvertCountyMd.gov/BusSchedules for fares, routes and schedules.


  • Public Transportation provides point to point paratransit services upon request for qualifying seniors or disabled to all polling locations, except Plum Point Elementary. Learn more at www.CalvertCountyMd.gov/ParaTransit.
  • The Office on Aging coordinates with Lifestyles, Inc. to provide point to point service for seniors and persons with disabilities at a sliding scale; please contact the Office on Aging at 410-535-4606 for more information.
