Calvary is a family of believers called to PRAISE God in worship, GROW as disciples of Jesus,

and LOVE one another and our community, by the power of the Holy Spirit.

Dear Calvary Friends,

The Bible's prescription for a good life includes a spiritual fruit known as gentleness.

Jesus modeled this fruit in his concern for the poor and downtrodden, his forgiveness of sinners, and his willingness to remain in loving relationship with critics and adversaries.

In a world that often seems harsh and cold, we can make a big, lasting difference by following his example. Instead of rushing to judgment of others, gentleness calls us to seek understanding and offer compassion. Instead of meeting violence with violence, gentleness calls us to turn the other cheek and work to be peacemakers. Instead of losing hope in the face of failure, gentleness calls us to keep believing in the triumph of light over darkness, good over evil, and life over death.

I'm looking forward to sharing some inspiring real-life examples of gentleness as part of this week's message, and I hope that we will all commit to living a bit more gently as we share this journey of faith together. Please know that there's a place here--at our church and in God's endless love--for you!

Grace and Peace,

Pastor David

Noisy Can Offering for Bed Ministry

Once again, our Student Ministry will be constructing beds as their mission project during VBS. On Sunday, June 2, we will have a "Noisy Can" offering to raise funds to construct these beds. Each bed frame costs $70 in raw materials to build the frame. We then work with our partners in ministry through Love INC to find homes for these beds. The beds that we construct are gifted to children in our community in need of a bed for themselves. Along with the bed frame that our students construct, we also provide a mattress, sheets, a comforter, a pillow, a pair of pajamas, and an age-appropriate bible for each child blessed with a bed. The total for each child is approximately $250. The “Noisy Can" offering next week will help to support the funding of this ministry. Bring your change (and bills or checks) to clank around in our children's cans as they come through the aisles to collect this special offering!

Pancake Breakfast

If you’re available to be part of the cleanup crew, join us for breakfast as your schedule allows, and then plan to stay for a few minutes after 10am. Thank you for helping with this vital ministry to our community.
