Nightly Single Lane Closures

Eastbound I-10

Construction Reminder

  • Nightly single lane closures along eastbound I-10 are scheduled next Monday - Wednesday, 7 p.m. - 5 a.m. for crews to safely shift K-rail, conduct concrete paving operations and tortoise fence repairs. Please follow all temporary traffic signs and reduce your travelling speed through our work areas.

Traffic Switch Reminder

Please remember to remain #WorkZoneAlert while traveling through our project. Eastbound and westbound traffic configurations throughout our project have recently changed, including the installation of a westbound crossover (below). Help keep the roadway safe for motorists and our crews by reducing your travel speed, following all posted signs, providing ample space for other vehicles, and avoiding distracted driving.

Project Background

The I-10 Desert Rehab Project segment is a 13-mile stretch of the I-10 freeway near Coachella in Riverside County, between 1.8 miles east of the Dillon Road Interchange and 2 miles east of the Cactus City Rest Area. Construction will take place over the next 3.5 years and includes repaving I-10, updating lane striping, and the addition of an eastbound truck climbing lane. The Cactus City Rest Area will also be closed for 1-2 months during construction.

In addition to repairing and restoring existing roadway pavement and adding an eastbound truck climbing lane, the I-10 Desert Rehab Project will install electric vehicle charging stations at the Cactus City Rest Area, replace and upgrade bridge railings, guardrail systems, and roadway signage, and improve roadway infrastructure including drainage and stormwater treatment systems.
