Dear Arab Youth and Youth Development Practitioners:
The Arab American Action Network (AAAN) has been providing quality and professional social services, domestic violence prevention, youth development, cultural arts, and community organizing / advocacy programming for the Arab American and Arab immigrant community of Chicagoland for almost 20 years.
The AAAN's youth program participants have designed a bi-lingual (English and Arabic) Social Norms survey to gather information about youth perception, acceptance, rejection, and experience of domestic violence, and abuse in general. It is intended to be anonymously completed by Arab American and Arab immigrant youth, between the ages of 14-24 years, living in the United States.
Survey findings will be used to increase knowledge about the attitudes around violence and domestic abuse in the Arab community, so that the AAAN, as well as other Arab organizations and practitioners around the country, can better serve the needs of their constituents.
The study will in no way be used to exploit, harm, or misrepresent those who participate. The AAAN is solely responsible for the design, distribution, and evaluation of the survey to the extent of its use by AAAN staff and consultants. The AAAN is not legally responsible for any misuse of the survey by those who do not represent the AAAN or this research project.
