About the Councillor Position
The ACEP Council is a deliberative body that meets once a year for two days in conjunction with ACEP’s Scientific Assembly. The Council is comprised of councillors representing ACEP’s 53 chapters, its sections of membership and its affiliate organizations. The Council votes on resolutions and proposed changes to ACEP’s Bylaws and elects members to ACEP’s Board of Directors.

State chapters receive one (1) councillor plus one (1) additional councillor per every 100 members. Councillors serve a 2-year term and may run for consecutive terms.

Alternate councillors will be chosen from those not elected for councillor positions. Should a councillor be unable to attend a Council meeting, the remaining councillors will select the alternate councillor to be seated in his or her place. Should a Councillor resign or be elected to office, the remaining councillors will elect an alternate councillor to fill the unexpired term.
