This issue provides COVID-19 updates, such as the CalOptima Vaccine Clinic and Resource Fair, transportation update, County’s Super Point of Dispensing sites allowing walk-ins to get COVID-19 vaccines, and the County announces planned closure of Super Point of Dispensing sites. COVID-19 Updates

CalOptima to Host Vaccine Clinic and Resource Fair

To boost access to COVID-19 vaccines for hard-to-reach CalOptima members, CalOptima and County of Orange agencies are partnering to hold vaccine clinics at CalOptima’s main office on May 15 and 22 (first doses) and June 5 and 12 (second doses).

In addition to offering vaccination for up to 1,200 people per day, the events will feature resource fair booths with health screenings and information about supportive services. Members are offered a $25 incentive per vaccine dose.

To register, members can call the OC COVID-19 Hotline at 714-834-2000 or use www.othena.com, to register and select the CalOptima vaccination site. Transportation for members can be arranged by calling CalOptima at 888-587-8088. For more information about the Member Health Rewards, visit www.caloptima.org/vaccine.

Transportation to Super Point of Dispensing Sites

Community members who need transportation to a County of Orange Super Point of Dispensing site can call the OC COVID-19 hotline at 714-834-2000. For more information, click here.

COVID-19 Vaccines Now Available for Walk-ins

To make getting vaccinated against COVID-19 as convenient as possible, vaccines are now available for walk-ins and those with confirmed appointments at the County of Orange Super Point of Dispensing sites. A list of sites and hours of operation can be found at CovidVaccineFacts.com or by calling the OC COVID-19 Hotline at 714-834-2000.

County Announces Planned Closure of Super Point of Dispensing Sites

The County of Orange will close its Super Point of Dispensing (POD) sites at the Anaheim Convention Center, OC Fair & Event Center, Soka University and Santa Ana College on June 6, 2021, and shift operations to an expanding network of robust mobile PODs. Guidance for the Use of Face Coverings

According to the California Department of Public Health, face coverings are not required outdoors for fully vaccinated persons except when attending crowded outdoor events, such as live performances, parades, fairs, festivals, sports events or other similar settings. It does not substitute for existing guidance about physical distancing and hand hygiene.

For unvaccinated persons, face coverings are required outdoors any time physical distancing cannot be maintained, including when attending crowded outdoor events, such as live performances, parades, fairs, festivals, sports events or other similar settings.

The County of Orange Social Services Agency Annual Report

The County of Orange Social Services Agency (SSA) Annual Report for Fiscal Year 2019–20 is now available. SSA serves the community’s most vulnerable people and, in FY 2019–20, served more than one in four Orange County residents. The report highlights the agency’s accomplishments and initiatives about how it pivoted operations to ensure accessible and responsive services during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Triple “P” (Positive Parenting Program)

The Triple P Online— Positive Parenting Program helps parents and caregivers of children ages 0–12 and teens better understand and support their children's emotional and developmental needs. World Elder Abuse Awareness Day

The 2021 World Eder Abuse Awareness Day Virtual Conference will focus on the unforeseen impact of loneliness in older adults as a result to the COVID-19 pandemic. The conference will take place June 15, from 10 a.m.–12 p.m. Learn more about the conference and click here to register.
