Cal State LA Preview Day invites admitted students to visit campus
Cal State LA will host its Preview Day on Saturday, April 20, from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m., to welcome all the high school seniors and transfer students admitted to Cal State LA for fall 2024. Admitted students and their families have been invited to visit the Cal State LA campus and meet University representatives from various colleges, student services departments, and student organizations.

Townhall gathering to discuss issues related to King Hall
Join us for a townhall gathering on Wednesday, March 20, from 2:30 p.m. to 4 p.m., in the Golden Eagle Ballrooms to discuss issues related to King Hall. The guest speaker will be Howard B. Spielman of Health Science Associates, a firm specializing in occupational health and safety and environmental solutions. The University is committed to creating an open dialogue to better inform our strategies moving forward. The goal of the gathering is to provide our University community with an opportunity to receive information and answers from a certified specialist. It is requested that questions be submitted ahead of time, in order to maximize our time and ensure we address as many questions as possible. To accommodate anyone who might not be able to join in person, the event will also be accessible online via Zoom. Please confirm your attendance and submit your questions online by 5 p.m. on March 18.

Women’s History Month at Cal State LA

Cheer on the Golden Eagles at the NCAA West Regionals
Congratulations to our Golden Eagles as they continue their history-making run. Come cheer on the Golden Eagles men’s basketball team on Friday, March 15, at 5 p.m., in the University Gym for its opening game of the NCAA championship tournament. This is our first conference championship ever. The men’s team is now the number one seed in the west region of the NCAA and is hosting the West Regional. The Golden Eagles will face off against the Cougars from Azusa Pacific. Fans can purchase men’s basketball tickets from Cal State LA Athletics. For the Golden Eagle women’s basketball team, they are the number eight seed in the west region. This is the second year in a row that the women will play in the West Regional. The women’s team will face off against Azusa Pacific on Friday at 5 p.m. at Azusa Pacific. Fans can purchase women’s basketball tickets through Azusa Pacific Athletics. All games will be available to watch pay-per-view through NCAA Championships Pass.

Fitness Center open to faculty and staff
The Fitness Center, located in the Physical Education building, room 124, is open to faculty and staff members to improve health and wellness, as well as to focus on specific fitness goals. The center hours for this spring semester are Monday through Friday, 6:30 a.m.-7:55 a.m.; 12 p.m.-1:30 p.m.; and 4:30 p.m.-6 p.m. Proper exercise attire and a towel are required to be permitted into the center. The Luckman presents a concert featuring Madeleine Peyroux
French American jazz songstress Madeleine Peyroux returns to the Luckman Theatre on Saturday, March 16, at 8 p.m., with her full arsenal of delicately sultry compositions and renditions. Join the Cal State LA Gives Back! day of service on April 19
Faculty, staff, and students are invited to volunteer and participate in a day of community service at the Los Angeles Regional Food Bank in Los Angeles. The Cal State LA Gives Back! event will be held from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Friday, April 19. Transportation is provided. This service project is organized by the Center for Engagement, Service, and the Public Good. Space is limited, so sign up online before April 12. Silverman Gallery features its annual undergraduate exhibition
The Ronald H. Silverman Fine Arts Gallery at Cal State LA presents its Annual Undergraduate Exhibition, featuring works by undergraduate students in the Art Department. The exhibit will be on display through March 26. The Center for Engagement, Service, and the Public Good will host a Volunteer Internship Fair on Thursday, April 18, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., on the Main Walkway. Sign up for Mental Health First Training
Faculty and staff are invited to participate in Mental Health First Aid Training. This program teaches participants how to assist someone experiencing a crisis. Participants learn risk factors and warning signs of serious and developing mental health problems, how to talk with a person who might be experiencing a mental health problem, and strategies to help identify the next best steps.
