Pastor Rushan Installed!
On April 14, 2024, we celebrated the installation of Rev. A. Rushan Sinnaduray as our Senior Minister!
While Pastor Rushan has been serving at Central Union since September, it was not until this service that we became formal partners in covenanted ministry together, through installation by the O‘ahu Association of the United Church of Christ.
The congregation gathered, along with representatives and witnesses from sister UCC churches on O‘ahu.
Pastor Rushan committed himself to the church, promising to care for the people, lead by example, and follow faithfully and prayerfully in Christ’s way of compassion.
Likewise, the congregation made similar promises to him – to accept and love him, to support his decisions and ministry, and to pray for him and his family.

Thanks for the Diapers!
Mahalo to everyone who donated to the Children’s Ministry Diaper Drive this past Lenten season! Our theme throughout Lent was “Essentials for the Journey” and with 1 in 2 families struggling with diaper need, these are surely essentials! We were able to give a donation of $1500 and share more than 1500 diapers and over 2300 wipes with the Aloha Diaper Bank which will distribute the items to families in need in our community.

Devotional for Easter
Easter Sunday is behind us, but the Easter season is before us!
"I pray this Easter season that the Easter story challenges us to live lives of joy, of faith and compassion. I pray that the Easter story challenges you and me to be steadfast in the face of injustice and gentle in the face of violence and to always speak truth to power with courage. I pray that the Easter story challenges you and me to let our lives be characterized by a search for wisdom and challenges us to witness to the love in Jesus Christ for all people without exception – this love which lives, and dies and lives again as it irrigates our souls and sustains us in our daily life." read more

Readers Needed for Worship!
Worship is one of the heartbeats of our church – it is the work of the whole church community in praising God, hearing God's word to us and responding in faith. One way to help each other in our worship is by reading scripture and other parts of our service. It enhances our experience of worship when we can have different faces and voices leading worship.
If you are willing to read in a worship service, please join our pool of readers! Learn more and sign up by clicking HERE.
| |
- Give thanks for the many participants, volunteers, and attendees at the Service of Installation and following reception who made it possible for us to celebrate our covenanted ministry with Pastor Rushan together!
- Pray for our ministries that do outreach in our local and global communities.
- Pray for the various needs on our campus, that we might find ways to fund and support improvements to our facilities to better accommodate and welcome all.

Beware of Email Scams!
Scams come in many forms, whether it's someone impersonating a church leader, or a stranger seeming to have a good deal for you on a special product or service. Please be cautious when checking emails! Know that church staff will never ask you to purchase something or give personal information. Often you can identify an email's authenticity by verifying the sender’s email address (CUC staff emails end with @centralunionchurch.org), but it's also possible for scammers to mimic email addresses. So if you receive any strange message at all and are ever in doubt, just delete it, don't reply or click on any links. You may call the church office (808-941-0957) to confirm.
