NEWS & ANNOUNCEMENTS

*Attend Service of Installation and Reception!

This Sunday, April 14, we will celebrate the installation of Pastor Rushan as our Senior Minister! While Pastor Rushan has been serving at Central Union for about six months now, he is not yet in covenant with the church. The Service of Installation, at 4 PM in the Sanctuary, is where that happens.

The congregation gathers, along with representatives and witnesses from sister UCC churches on O‘ahu. Pastor Rushan will commit himself to the church, promising to care for the people, lead by example, and follow faithfully and prayerfully in Christ’s way of compassion. Likewise, the congregation makes similar promises to him – to accept and love him, to support his decisions and ministry, and to pray for him and his family. It is a very important celebration of the church and we hope you will be a part of it!

Planning to attend the reception?

Following the service will be a casual reception in the Parish Hall to greet Pastor Rushan and his family, and to enjoy fellowship with one another! Come and go as you please. It was previously mentioned that potluck side dishes are encouraged, but food will be provided, so please join us and don't worry about bringing anything! If you plan to stay for food, please let us know so we can have enough for everyone. We've extended the RSVP deadline. Please RSVP by TODAY, April 11.

Devotional for Easter

Easter Sunday is behind us, but the Easter season is before us!

"I pray this Easter season that the Easter story challenges us to live lives of joy, of faith and compassion. I pray that the Easter story challenges you and me to be steadfast in the face of injustice and gentle in the face of violence and to always speak truth to power with courage. I pray that the Easter story challenges you and me to let our lives be characterized by a search for wisdom and challenges us to witness to the love in Jesus Christ for all people without exception – this love which lives, and dies and lives again as it irrigates our souls and sustains us in our daily life." read more

Readers Needed for Worship!

Worship is one of the heartbeats of our church – it is the work of the whole church community in praising God, hearing God's word to us and responding in faith. One way to help each other in our worship is by reading scripture and other parts of our service. It enhances our experience of worship when we can have different faces and voices leading worship.

If you are willing to read in a worship service, please join our pool of readers! Learn more and sign up by clicking HERE.

Beware of Email Scams!

Scams come in many forms, whether it's someone impersonating a church leader, or a stranger seeming to have a good deal for you on a special product or service. Please be cautious when checking emails! Know that church staff will never ask you to purchase something or give personal information. Often you can identify an email's authenticity by verifying the sender’s email address (CUC staff emails end with @centralunionchurch.org), but it's also possible for scammers to mimic email addresses. So if you receive any strange message at all and are ever in doubt, just delete it, don't reply or click on any links. You may call the church office (808-941-0957) to confirm.
