Faculty Spotlight

Sarah Dowman, assistant professor of Latinx/Chicanx literature in the Department of World Languages and Literatures at the CSUSB Palm Desert Campus, presented a project titled, “Flaquear no es una opción: Community Building and Activism in Puerto Rico's Underground Art and Music Scenes” at the Professors Across Borders (PAB) Workshop at the San Bernardino Campus.

Dowman’s research sheds lights on the current struggles of Puerto Ricans in the San Juan metropolitan area and the importance of cultural expression to social movements and subcultures.
