Christina Students Participate in Peaceful Demonstrations and Observations on March 14
Observing the one-month anniversary of the school shooting in Parkland, Florida, Christina students participated in multiple activities to raise awareness and acknowledge the victims of the attack that took place on February 14. Throughout the country, students observed this anniversary with organized school walkouts, activities, and observances.

Christina Parents: What's Your Preference for the First Day of School for the 2018-2019 School Year?
The District is developing the 2018-2019 District Calendar and would like feedback from Christina parents regarding the first day of school. Please complete our quick poll, and let us know whether school should start before or after the Labor Day holiday.

Christina Board of Education Honors Schools and Students at March Meeting 
Christiana High School’s Music Department, Glasgow musician Michael Just, Glasgow basketball player Devon McDowell, football players Reginald Grinnell (GHS), Tymere Wilson (GHS), Christopher Chege (CHS), and Michael Earl (NHS), and Newark divers Carolanne Tims and Rachel Tims were honored by the Christina Board of Education on March 13.

DSD Students Celebrate Their 100th Day with Fun Activities 
Delaware School for the Deaf students in grades K-2 spent the morning on their 100th day of school engaging in fun counting, craft, and drawing activities, and dressing up like they were 100 years old.

Newark Student-Athlete Zach Coffing Named All-State First Team in Two Winter Sports
Newark High School junior Zach Coffing has achieved the honor of being named All State First Team in both Indoor Track and Swimming in the 2017-18 winter athletic season.

Bancroft Elementary School Publishes Its First School Newspaper 
Bancroft Elementary School announces the first issue of its new school newspaper, The Bancroft Banner, created by students and focusing on the theme of “If you could change the world all by yourself, what would you do?”

Downes Elementary Fifth Graders Peacefully Demonstrate as Part of National School Walkout
Downes Elementary School fifth graders were the youngest students in the District to participate in the National School Walkout event held on March 14 to mark the 1-month anniversary of the school shooting in Parkland, Florida.

Zoup! Restaurant Fundraiser March 20 to Support Gallaher Students’ Trip to Cape Henlopen State Park
Families are encouraged to visit Zoup! Restaurants on Kirkwood Highway and at the Christiana Fashion Center on March 20, where 25% of what is spent will be donated to Gallaher Elementary School to support students visiting Cape Henlopen State Park in May.

Members of Kirk Middle School BPA Chapter “Dream Bigger” at State Leadership Conference
Kirk Middle School Business Professionals of America chapter brought home seven top-five awards in multiple categories, earned four BPA Torch Awards, and was recognized with four Chapter Awards at the state conference held on February 28.

Congratulations to Gauger-Cobbs Middle School BPA Chapter on Another Successful State Conference!
Gauger-Cobbs Middle School BPA students won the Pin Design category and will have their design made into trading pins for all BPA Chapters in Delaware, as well as bringing home two First Place and one Second Place award, and the Outstanding National Ambassadors award.

New Year Show at Downes Elementary School Showcases Chinese Immersion Students in Grades K-4
Singing, dancing, Chinese martial arts and even acting were on display by the students in grades K-4 who are enrolled in the Chinese Immersion Program at Downes Elementary School as part of their New Year Show on February 28.

Wilson Elementary School Teams Win at FIRST LEGO League Junior Competition 
Teams of third and fourth grade students from Wilson Elementary School won two categories in the FIRST LEGO League Junior Expo event featuring 32 teams from schools throughout Delaware.

NASA visits Downes Elementary School! 
Representatives from NASA’s Space Communication and Navigation Program Office visited students at Downes Elementary School and provided an educational and fun assembly about space navigation and communication technologies.

Networks Spring Craft Fair – March 24 
The Networks Program will host a Spring Craft Fair at Aetna Fire Hall in Newark on March 24, featuring a variety of crafts, food items, jewelry, toys, and more, from 9:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.

English Language Family Fun Night April 18 at Gauger-Cobbs Middle School 
The EL Program will host a free, fun-filled evening activity for English Language students and their families on Wednesday, April 18 at 6:00 p.m. at Gauger-Cobbs Middle School.

Sponsorship Opportunities Available - Deadline April 13
Three sponsorship levels are available to promote and showcase your organization to the Christina community during the 3rd Annual Christina Color Dash. The Color Dash will take place on Saturday, May 19 from 9 am to 12 pm at McVey Elementary School.
