The New Brunswick Heart Centre (NBHC) and the Department of Surgery, affiliated with Dalhousie University New Brunswick Medical School, is seeking a dynamic and motivated individual for the Position of Academic Cardiac Surgeon in the Division of Cardiac Surgery. The subspecialty interest we are particularly looking for is in the field of structural heart disease.
The successful candidate will join 5 other cardiac surgeons, supported by 7 dedicated Nurse Associates. The projected start time for the position may be as early as the Summer of 2022 but is flexible. Proficiency in both official languages is an asset. Candidates must be eligible for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of New Brunswick, privileges with Horizon Health Network and membership with the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada, as well as adequate liability insurance.

Locum Cardiac Surgeon

Southlake Regional Health Centre in Newmarket, Ontario is seeking a locum cardiac surgeon with expertise in mitral valve surgery for a 3-6 month period starting June 2022. We anticipate to be recruiting for a full time permanent position at the end of this locum period.
The successful applicant would join an existing group of 4 cardiac surgeons sharing a volume of approximately 1000 open cases that is expected to grow. Southlake is a Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care designated and funded Regional Cardiac Program, serving 1.5 million people and 10 hospitals in York Region and North Simcoe Muskoka. Our services are comprehensive, including primary PCI, world firsts in electrophysiology techniques, and sutureless valves. Southlake has a rapidly expanding structural heart program including TAVR and MitraClip. The cardiac medical staff now includes 4 cardiac surgeons and 23 cardiologists, with groups sub-specializing in interventional, electrophysiology, critical care cardiology, invasive and non-invasive cardiology.
The successful candidate must be licensed to practice cardiac surgery in the province of Ontario, Royal College certified and experienced with most aspects of cardiac surgery including revascularization, valve repair and replacement, and aortic surgery. A proven track record with mitral valve repair is essential. Specialized training in mitral valve disease and surgery would be an asset. Compensation is through fee-for service OHIP billing and MOH on-call stipend.
