WELCOME WEEK

We are pleased to share that our Welcome Week activities will take place during the first week of school, from Monday, August 12 through Friday, August 16. We can’t wait for our students and their families to join us for this fun, multi-day kick-off event! Please click here to review the email regarding Welcome Week that went out earlier this week, and click here to view the Welcome Week Schedule of Events.

PARKING & TRAFFIC UPDATES

We want to make sure that your experience arriving to campus during the first week is smooth and safe. Traffic is always very heavy at the beginning of the school year. Please allow extra time, obey posted signs, and follow staff instructions and all traffic rules for the safety of our students. See below for the most up-to-date information about coming to campus and pick-up and drop-off.

  • Be sure to refer to our Campus Map, which includes the drop-off and pick-up routes. Morning drop-off and afternoon pick-up will take place in the Highland Avenue Parking Lot in the back of the school. The front of the school along Central Avenue may be used only for afternoon pick-up.

  • During the first two days of school, Monday, August 12 and Tuesday, August 13, Duarte Unified School District (DUSD) is having staff training in the Duarte Performing Arts Center (PAC) and will be parking on Northview Field. All of our lots are reserved for CSArts-SGV staff and student parking. If parents wish to park to walk their student in on the first day, they can do so on Central Avenue, east of Highland Avenue.

  • All parking spots in the Highland Avenue Parking Lot are reserved for students and staff and require a school-issued permit. Drivers should not wait or park in parking spaces without a valid permit during school hours, from 7:30 a.m.-5 p.m.

  • Long-term visitor parking is available in the Central Avenue Parking Lot. If needed, please take advantage of additional parking on Central Avenue, east of Highland Avenue.

  • The curb at the front of the school has signage and the City of Duarte will be enforcing one-hour parking. Visitors to the school who are staying for less than one hour are welcome to park there.

Thank you in advance for keeping our school campus safe for both drivers and pedestrians!

BREAKFAST & LUNCH MENUS

Duarte Unified School District (DUSD), our contracted food service provider, has posted their breakfast and lunch menus for the 2024-2025 school year. Please click here to view these menus.

All students are eligible to receive a free breakfast and lunch each school day per the 2021 California state mandate. If any student wishes to have a second full serving, there will be an extra cost. Please visit www.schoolcafe.com to load your account with funds for any extra food options or to fill out the Federal Free and Reduced-Price Lunch Program (FRLP) option. Extra food will not be provided without appropriate funds. Accounts cannot carry any debt. Students are still encouraged to bring their own snacks/lunch should they want to avoid lines for the Cafeteria. Additionally, snacks will be available for purchase to all students during Nutrition, at Lunch, and just before conservatory classes.

FEDERAL FREE & REDUCED-PRICE LUNCH PROGRAM

Regardless of whether or not you plan to utilize the free meal program called out above, any CSArts-SGV family who qualifies (based on income level) for the Federal Free and Reduced-Price Lunch Program (FRLP) is still encouraged to apply. If approved, your family would be eligible for additional discounts, including reduced prices on lockers, parking passes, yearbooks, school dance tickets, and more, and the school may be eligible for additional funding. If you think your family may qualify, please apply through www.schoolcafe.com.

YEARBOOK/ID PHOTOS

Parents/guardians: Did you know that Michael Negrete Photography lets you and your student choose their yearbook/ID photo? Be sure to keep an eye out for an email and text message from GotPhoto regarding your student’s school photos that were taken at On-Campus Registration this past week. You will receive a link from GotPhoto in order to choose which photo to use. If you wish to purchase your student’s photo, free shipping and a discount of 10% off is available through Tuesday, August 20. Purchase early to take advantage of this special pricing!

LA METRO & TAP CARDS

CSArts-SGV is excited to continue its partnership with LA Metro this year! As part of the GoPass program, TAP cards and access codes were distributed during On-Campus Registration to interested riders. New cards and access codes will also be available in the Cafeteria on the morning of Monday, August 12, and at the front desk throughout the rest of the first week. Once students register their cards, they will have free public transportation throughout the Los Angeles region for the entire year.
