In First Year, Statewide Anti-Hate Hotline Connects Hundreds of Californians with Support in Response to 1,000+ Reported Acts of Hate


As part of California’s coordinated response to a nationwide increase in hate, the California Civil Rights Department (CRD), alongside state and community partners, released new data highlighting the impact of California vs Hate in its first year of operation and announced new and ongoing initiatives to combat hate across the state.

CRD Announces $100K Settlement Over Alleged Sexual Harassment of Santa Cruz County Farmworker


If approved by the court, the proposed settlement will also require Ayoquezco Farms to implement new policies to help protect their workers from future sexual harassment. The settlement comes after CRD filed a lawsuit against the farm last year.

Civil Rights Council Releases Proposed Regulations to Protect Against Employment Discrimination in Automated Decision-Making Systems


Many employers use artificial intelligence and other technologies to help them make decisions about recruiting, hiring, and promoting workers. While useful, the technology can sometimes lead to discrimination, often without employers realizing it. New proposed regulations from the Civil Rights Council could help change that.
