Financing Slows Down For CRE Projects

In an interview with South Florida Business Journal’s Brian Bandell, CPLG Managing Attorney Liam Krahe discussed the current financing environment for commercial real estate projects in South Florida.

Liam spoke about how high construction costs and interest rates are forcing some developers to put their development sites on the market since they can no longer proceed with their original plans. Projects that seemed feasible a year ago are no longer viable due to vanishing margins.

“It would be impossible to pay back investors at those numbers,” Liam said.

CPLG Managing Attorney and Co-Founder & Principal of SF QOZ Fund, Liam Krahe, participated in OpportunityDb's Summer OZ Pitch Day! During his panel, Liam discussed the OZ fund he co-founded with CPLG Chairman David Cohen.

Liam spoke about how SF QOZ Fund is targeting the development of a 438-unit multifamily building with ground-floor retail space in Miami’s Arts & Entertainment District, ideally situated within walking distance to various amenities, businesses, and restaurants, as well as Brightline stations.
