The Care Management Institute will work closely with the Office of Mental Health (OMH) to identify core and model-specific care management competencies and associated training needs of the various care management models. With Mr. Lopez as leader, the new Institute will identify relevant existing resources for use, develop new resources, implement learning collaboratives/communities designed to support implementation of best practices, select and supervise Institute staff, and report efforts and outcomes to OMH. Given his considerable expertise, Luis will also personally provide training and implementation support to care managers across the state.

Mr. Lopez has been at NYSPI since 2013 and is currently the Director of Special Programs at CPI and Coordinator for Fidelity and Best Practices at the ACT Institute. He has a M.A. in counseling from New Jersey City University and an M.S. in Administration for Metropolitan College (previously known as Audrey Cohen College). He is also a counselor, a trainer, a consultant, and a coach. Luis has expertise in the areas of Trauma Informed Care, Motivational Interviewing, Dual Recovery, Group Dynamics, Cultural Humility, Stages of Change, Harm Reduction, WRAP, CBT, Wellness Self-Management, Social Justice Advocacy and the ACT Model. He has facilitated workshops in over 150 conferences nationally and in Canada. He has also conducted consultations in Puerto Rico and the US Virgin Islands. He is member of the American Counseling Association and ACA-NY.

Please join us in welcoming Mr. Lopez to this important position.
