A Message from the Executive Director
|
Dear Friends,
I recently spent a week at a conference with 1,500 pro-life colleagues learning, praying, and inspiring one another. This time was so precious to me and the staff who attended. Most days on Howard Street are challenging and busy. We do not always get to see and speak with our friends in this ministry. Being together for
a week to pray, reflect, learn, and share was a powerful experience. This conference made it possible to continue our education about abortion trends, legislation, technology, and development, which are vital components to reach abortion vulnerable women with life affirming services. Things change fast in these areas, and we need to be prepared to change and grow to truly help women. We are committed to provide excellent services to the women who reach out to CPC for help, and to share our needs and outcomes with friends and supporters like you, who sustain our ministry.
Listening to our colleagues from other states discuss the challenges at their centers revealed just how unique our center is. We are truly serving some of the least of God's people here at Options@328.
CPC's challenges can be exceedingly difficult, and at times emotionally and spiritually draining, but everyone invested in our ministry plays a part in helping serve pregnant women and their unborn children. Together, we can do more, and with God, we can do all things!
On that note, please be sure to read about an incredibly special couple, Nancy and Preston Athey, who made a God-sized gift to CPC. We are humbled and grateful to them for their generosity and decades-long support of our mission and ministry.
I look forward to the opportunity to gather at next month's Blue Jean BBQ on Thursday, May 19th from 5:30pm - 8:00pm. See the article below for more information and tickets.
Thank you for your prayers and continued support. I hope each of you have a blessed Easter. Alleluia! He is Risen!
Every good wish,
Gina Ruppert
Executive Director

CPC Receives $250,000 Gift!
|
|
CPC received a major gift of $250,000 last fall from long-time supporters, Preston & Nancy Athey. "We decided to make a gift of this size because we think that it is especially important to firm up the CPC’s foundation, so they are well equipped to face the challenges of a rapidly changing environment and a new location. We are very impressed with the work that the Center is doing on Howard Street and with the efforts they are making to grow all facets of their organization," said Nancy Athey.
Paula Caponiti, Director of Development, said, “This gift has supported our programs and day-to-day operating expenses for the 2021-2022 fiscal year. This gift was a perfectly timed blessing to our ministry and to all the women we serve at CPC!"
The Athey's are members of the Church of the Resurrection in Lutherville. Nancy is a former CPC volunteer, and Preston is a former vice president and veteran portfolio manager at T. Rowe Price. Nancy and Preston have three children and ten grandchildren. On behalf of the CPC Board, Administration, and Staff - thank you so much for this life affirming gift!

Recently, we served "Sally" who was 20 weeks pregnant and looking for medical services. Earlier that week, she had been to an abortion provider and had considered terminating her pregnancy. Sally was scared, alone, and confused. Our nurse, Kate, performed a sonogram and explained the abortion process at this gestational age. Kate also shared the possible effects Sally might experience from the abortion. After we provided Sally with medical services, advocacy, and resources she left giggling a few hours later, holding the ultrasound image of her baby in hand. Sally is now under OB care as she prepares to deliver a healthy baby boy. Praise Jesus!

The 2022 Heartbeat Conference was a Success!
|
|
The 2022 Heartbeat International Conference was held in Jacksonville, FL two weeks ago. The theme was "ONWARD."
Three CPC staff members participated, thanks to a grant from Gift of Hope USA Foundation. We attended in-person seminars with our pregnancy center counterparts from across the US and the world, covering topics like "Advancing Leaders," "Client Care," "Soul Care," "Medical Advancements," "Fundraising Dynamics," and "Organizational Infrastructure." We came home with transformative hearts and minds, renewed and excited to put these new strategies into action!

Please welcome Emma,
CPC's part-time client advocate at Options@328.
Emma joined CPC in February, 2022. She lives in Ellicott City and is originally from Palm Beach Gardens, Florida. She graduated from Franciscan University of Steubenville with a bachelor's degree in Social Work and an associate degree in Theology.
Emma is learning to use her Spanish speaking abilities when assisting our Hispanic clients and continues working to better understand how to serve them best.
When asked about her most rewarding part of her job, Emma says, "The effort and ability to provide holistic care of the body, mind, and spirit to our clients and their unborn babies. I am inspired by the women I work with, as they give such attentive care to each woman who walks through the doors. The best part of working at CPC is being a member of this wonderfully gifted and dedicated team who cares deeply for our clients, their unborn children, and each other." Welcome Emma!

Our Mission
The Greater Baltimore Center for Pregnancy Concerns is a locally organized and funded volunteer ministry demonstrating the love of Jesus Christ by providing abortion alternatives to women who find themselves in the midst of an unplanned pregnancy. We service clients by addressing their physical, emotional, and spiritual needs. We also strive to provide accurate and complete information on prenatal development and abortion. We believe access to this information is needed in order to provide our clients with the facts, allowing them to make informed decisions. Ultimately, we desire to protect the physical, emotional, and spiritual health of our clients and their unborn children. We also provide emotional support and resources to any woman who comes to us having had an abortion. We believe our ministry to these and all women is to share the love of Jesus Christ.
