You must submit a Self-Screening no later than when you arrive on campus IF any of the following apply:


  • You have tested positive for a specific respiratory infection such as COVID-19, Influenza, or RSV
  • You have recently been exposed to someone with COVID-19
  • You are experiencing symptoms consistent with COVID-19

Update:

Schools in Los Angeles County are now required to report clusters of acute respiratory illness, inclusive of COVID-19.


  • Employees and students must report if they have tested positive for ANY of the following respiratory illnesses: Influenza, RSV, and COVID-19
  • Continue to report exposures to COVID-19
  • Continue to report when experiencing symptoms consistent with COVID-19


Continue to complete the AVC Self-Screening if any of the above apply.



Mask Guidance - Strongly recommended while indoors to protect yourself and others. Masking and vaccinations are your best defense.

 


Face coverings will continue to be provided to employees as requested for optional use and can be worn without fear of retaliation.

FREE COVID Home Test Kits Available

COVID home tests are available at no cost to employees and students. 
Tests are available as needed at one of the following locations:

Facilities Services office (north side of the campus) 
  • During campus hours
  • Closed for lunch from 12pm - 1pm
Student Health Center (SSV building)
  • During campus hours

Insurance is not needed. If you have any symptoms or believe you have been exposed to COVID-19, please wear a mask when entering the offices for the health of AVC staff.

Check Your COVID-19 Tests for Expiration
BinaxNOW COVID-19 tests distributed by Antelope Valley College with an original expiration date of May 11, 2023, expired on Monday, December 11, 2023, and tests with an original expiration date of August 1, 2023, expired on March 1, 2024, based on the FDA approved extension expiration list. Please use the link below to check the tests you may have on hand for expiration and dispose of any expired tests.

Total positive cases on campus since Summer 2020: 1,678

  • 0 new cases for the week ending May 17, 2024
  • 2 new cases for the week ending May 24, 2024
  • 2 new cases for the week ending May 31, 2024
  • 1 new case for the week ending June 7, 2024


  • The total number encompasses students, staff, construction workers, and vendors. It reflects people who were on campus that tested positive within 14 days of their positive test or from when their symptoms began. This is not an indication of a person being exposed on campus.

Public Health Monitors Small Signs of Increasing COVID-19 Transmission; Encourages Common-Sense Precautions to Prevent Disruption of Summer Plans

The Los Angeles County Department of Public Health reminds residents to take common-sense precautions to avoid becoming ill with COVID-19 as data shows small increases in the number of reported COVID-19 cases, virus concentrations in wastewater and the percentage of positive COVID-19 tests for the past four weeks. With traveling and gatherings increasing during summer, protection from COVID-19 infection remains important as a new group of variants has begun to circulate nationwide. The so called “FLiRT” variants, including KP.2 and KP.3 variants, descendants of Omicron variants JN.1, are causing an increasing proportion of cases in the United States. While these variants may have some mutations that make them more easily transmissible, there are no indications that these variants may cause more severe illness.
