To Give of Oneself

Acts 20:35

“In everything I did, I showed you that by this kind of hard work we must help the weak, remembering the words of the Lord Jesus himself said: “It is more blessed to give than to receive.”

In this Advent and holiday season, we find ourselves filled with the anticipation of family and friends, spending time together, opening gifts from and of the heart. But we must not forget to help one another. God gave us Jesus, a blessing that allows each of us to live a life full of abundance, full of love and hope, sorrow, and joy. We must share the blessing to give, with each other.

The miraculous feeling that was felt, on the day of His birth, in the city of Bethlehem, in a manger, can be described as a blessing. That day, that most spectacular blessing of life, was given to us and the greatest gift one could receive.

Dear God, I thank you for the birth of your Son. It is because of Your gift to us that we can have a life filled with blessings which we can share with one another, as you shared your greatest blessing with us. Help us to remember the feeling of giving and helping, so that we may continue to do this unselfish act in your image.

In Jesus' name,

Amen
