Good Afternoon St. Stephen Families,

The Wild West has arrived at St. Stephen! Thank you to our parent volunteers who so beautifully decorated the hall for the American Frontier Book Fair.

Unfortunately, we are not having Grandparents Day this year, however, all family members are welcome to join us for the Family Event on Thursday afternoon from 3-5 pm. Students will be able to take family members on a tour of the school in addition to spending time at the Book Fair. There will also be activities for the students in the Center Hall by the Art Room. I hope to see many of you next week at this event.

A special thank you to our music teacher Mr. Feiler, Mrs. Gallagher, parent volunteers, and students who performed at the St. Vincent de Paul Ladies Tea. The students put on a great show and are invited to return next year for another performance.

Have a wonderful weekend.

Every year our students and school families open their hearts and support St Vincent de Paul. Thanks to many Mustang Moms, our school was represented at the SVDP tea last Saturday with seven tables.
It was a beautiful event and the SSCS Talent Worship offered our students an opportunity to perform for all the ladies that attended the event.
The SVDP food can drives will be held again this year so our students can continue to support this amazing ministry that helps so many in our community. The first can drive will begin on November 1, 2021, and notices will be posted in October.
This is the last week of just practices for the St Stephen girls volleyball and coed soccer teams before matches and games start next week.

Friday 10/1 for Students.

  Families are welcome
to enjoy the
Book Fair Family Night
experience, on
Thursday 9/30 from 3 to 5 PM.

A Special Invitation is extended to Grandparents to
join in the fun on Family Night!

The book fair kicks off on Monday when the students have the opportunity to view the book selection. The students prepare a wish list of books with the prices that can be reviewed by parents at home.
On the scheduled class day, the students can return to the fair to purchase their selection. Parents can send payment into school with their student in the form of cash or check.

The American Frontier Family Night is Thursday

Please visit the school on Thursday after 3 and enjoy the book fair, the amazing decorations crafted by SSCS Moms ( Katherine, Heather and Tarin) and the classroom doors decorated by the students. The class with the best door is the winner of a special prize and has boasting rights until the next class room door contest! Family Night will also offer an opportunity for students to enjoy making crafts. Payment for books during Family Night will include credit card, cash and check. This event is enjoyed every year by families and especially grandparents who love a chance to see their grandchildren's school.

Students Dress in the Book Fair Theme on Thursday

For students to fully understand what it was like living in " The American Frontier ", students should dress in attire that represents that time in American History. Students can accessorize their uniform or wear a comfortable costume that tells the story. Uniforms can be replaced by clothing worn during the American Frontier or items can be added to the uniform ( hat, scarf boots etc.)

A math program called Math+ is being offered (virtually for right now) to all Middle School Students at St. Stephen. There are no prerequisite requirements except for a love and interest in Math. The courses in this program go well beyond the math being learned in the classroom providing students a much broader view of selected Math Topics.

This Fall’s course focuses on Probability, a mathematical concept that has both practical relevance and important mathematical applications. The course will teach probability while exploring many real-world applications from finance to decision-making to poker. A letter about the course is attached.

The six-session course will be taught online on Mondays and Wednesdays from 5:30 to 6:30 pm starting on Monday, October 4th and ending on October 20th.

This allows them to check out physical copies of books as well as digital books, audiobooks, and any other materials available from the public library.
