THE REV. DEACON LEONARD HOWARD
The Reverend Deacon Leonard Howard (age 90) died on Saturday, May 6, 2023. Len was ordained to the vocational diaconate by Bishop Donald Hart on November 7, 1993. He served at St. Timothy’s Church, ʻAiea, and the Cathedral of St. Andrew, Honolulu. Len was a physician specializing in obstetrics and gynecology having moved to Hawaiʻi in 1975. He continued to serve for many years on Kaiser Permanente’s ethics committee after retiring from his medical practice. Until recent years, Len continued as an active member of the diocesan retired clergy community.
A Requiem Eucharist will be celebrated on Sunday, June 11, 2023, at 5:00 PM, in the Cathedral of St. Andrew, Honolulu. Family will be available for visitation before the service beginning at 4:00 PM. A reception in the Von Holt Room will immediately follow the service. Special music will be provided by the Cathedral’s choir in recognition of the many years Len and Marilyn were part of this ministry.

ALMIGHTY AND ETERNAL GOD, to whom there is never any prayer made without hope of mercy, be merciful to the soul of your faithful servant, Leonard, being departed from this world in the confession of your Holy Name that he and all the departed may be welcomed into the company of thy saints, through Christ our Lord. Amen.
Rest eternal grant him, O Lord, and let light perpetual shine upon him. May he rest in peace. Amen.
