A beautiful new school is being built in Mali

In a town 25 kilometers from the capital city of Bamako, Humanity First USA is constructing a new school. Koulikoro is the largest town in the Koulikoro region, but most of its people come from surrounding villages and agriculture is a major industry. There is a shortage of healthcare and education opportunities in the region.

We broke ground last fall, and construction is continuing rapidly! The first floor of this school will have classrooms for nursery and primary students, a library, a computer center, and administration space. As we look ahead to welcoming students, we are beginning to hire local educators and staff.

A photo from a high vantage point looking down at a large open dirt area with a large framework of concrete pillars and walls that is under construction and open at the top. Some other buildings and trees are in the distance.

This school is made possible thanks to a generous supporter. Other classrooms and schools have been crowdfunded, and all donations support the daily work of educating children and youth in academics and vocational skills. Click here to learn more about HFUSA’s work to build Knowledge for Life.

Spotlight on Guyana

HF Guyana held a medical outreach day at McKenzie Post Office in Linden last week in collaboration with the Ministry of Health, U.S. Embassy, Courts Optical, the Green Pharmacy, and the Ahmadiyya Muslim Jama'at Guyana.

114 patients had their vitals tested, some received optometry screening and others sought medications from an herbalist. The U.S. Embassy donated over 200 food hampers to the patients while they were receiving medical care.

Two men stand by a table that is set up outdoors with a table cloth and box and bags of supplies. They are next to a sign for the U.S. Embassy.
Under a tent awning outdoors a man on the right of a folding table wears latex gloves and pricks the finger of a woman seated on the opposite side for a blood test. Behind them a man sits at the table with a blood pressure cuff while a woman monitors.
