April 2024 – Corrected
| |
|
Greetings Mean Green Colleagues,
We're sharing this revised version of our April newsletter to make sure you're up to date on all the exciting things happening in Faculty Success this month. We apologize for any confusion!
We will soon be honoring our 2024 Salute to Faculty recipients. Our faculty pictured have been recognized with the prestigious UNT Foundation awards for their excellence in teaching, leadership, research, and service. I am excited to honor them and so many more of our outstanding faculty later this month at our beautiful Frisco Landing campus. If you are a fan or colleague of one of our awardees, we invite you to RSVP and come celebrate with us.
Faculty Success and the University Libraries will also celebrate our book authors in the UNT Salute to Faculty Book Authors Celebration on April 17. I hope you will join us.
Drum roll, please!! A huge wingspan clap for completing the COACHE Faculty Job Satisfaction Survey! Over 50% of UNT's eligible full-time faculty shared their perspectives about 25 factors of job satisfaction. We will receive the results in the early summer and work with our COACHE Steering Committee to disseminate the results and identify actionable steps to continue improving the faculty work experience. A shout-out to faculty in the Colleges of Applied and Collaborative Studies, Visual Arts and Design, and Health and Public Service for having completion rates over 60%! For our larger colleges, G. Brint Ryan College of Business and CLASS also pulled over 50%.
As we turn an eagle eye to the future, Faculty Success just launched our 2024-2025 Mentoring Grants on our InfoReady Portal. This funding opportunity supports our faculty in deepening their developmental relationships within and outside of UNT. It is one of the many ways Faculty Success supports your faculty career!

Evaluation of Part-Time Instructors
UNT Policy 06.024, Evaluation of Part-Time Instructors, is a policy that has been revised and re-established. It provides the framework for developing and implementing unit-level processes related to the regular evaluation of part-time faculty (e.g., adjuncts) and teaching fellows. This process will be conducted university-wide beginning in spring 2025.
To learn more about the policies that govern faculty please view the Chapter 6 (Academic Affairs) policies in our UNT Policy Manual. Questions about a policy or have suggestions about a revision? Don't hesitate to get in touch with Assistant Vice Provost, Angie Cartwright at Angie.Cartwright@unt.edu.

SPOT survey opens April 15
Student Perceptions of Teaching (SPOT), the student evaluation system for UNT, runs April 15 through May 2. While SPOT is just one of many tools our university uses to assess teaching effectiveness (UNT Policy 6.007), encouraging your students to share their feedback can help improve the student experience across our university.
| |
|
In the SPOT faculty portal, you can add custom questions to your course evaluations, pull past term reports and preview surveys created by your department SPOT coordinator. For more information and administration tools, visit the SPOT website or email spot@unt.edu. | |
Support your colleagues as an ERG coordinator
The UNT Asian Pacific Islander (API) Network is in need of one or two volunteer coordinators to ensure they are able to continue functioning as an Employee Resource Group.
| |
The role involves communicating with group members and planning meetups, and previous volunteer coordinators will gladly provide mentoring and transition assistance to new coordinators. Email faculty.success@unt.edu if you are interested in serving alongside a great group of UNT faculty and staff!
