June 2024

Chief's Welcome

With the heat of summer upon us, please help us mitigate situations of children and pets being left in vehicles while parents or guardians run into a store to do some quick shopping or to purchase food. You would be surprised about how many calls for service we receive during the summer months as it relates to children and pets being left unattended in vehicles.

Even if a car is left running with the precious little one or furry pet inside, there is no guarantee with our extreme heat there would not be some type of mechanical failure which would put a small child or pet at great risk for injury or death from heat rising in a sealed vehicle. With that said, if you are out and about in our City and you see a child or pet left in an unattended vehicle, please give us a call so we can respond to investigate what is going on to make certain everyone is safe.

As I always say, we cannot police and protect our City alone. We are all in this together and through your partnership and a genuine relationship, we will continue to make a difference and increase the quality of life for those we serve.

~ Chief Mark Mitchell
