February 2024

Chief's Welcome

As we near the end of Winter, we are planning and gearing up to Spring into action (no pun intended 😊) for 2024. We are studying our reports and data from 2023 to see how we can best protect and engage with our community this year. Please be on the lookout for our Annual Report which will be released in the next several months. This will give you a good snapshot of what is happening with your Police Department as it relates to crime data, operational statistics, policy reports, use of force figures, training numbers, and community program facts.

Additionally, I am proud to report our hardworking men and women who have made it possible for our department to be 100% compliant with all of the processes, policies, and standards of The Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies (CALEA). We just recently finished our CALEA on-site visit and we will be applying for the prestigious distinction to be recognized as an agency of “Excellence” through this tried and true program.

We are a work in progress striving to get better each day here at the JCPD. Our mantra for 2024 is to be a year of growth for our culture, our leadership, and for our employees. If you have any thoughts or feedback on how we can better our service to our supportive community, please let us know.

I really appreciate the opportunity I have to be part of such a professional and talented organization that does not take for granted the purpose we have to protect and connect with our valued community we serve.

Respectfully,

~ Chief Mark Mitchell

Chief of Police
