B&D receives industry accolades

In July, Brailsford & Dunlavey was named as a finalist for the P3 Awards' "Technical Advisor of the Year" for the second year in a row. This recognition, organized by P3 Bulletin, acknowledges B&D's expertise in guiding colleges and universities through the public-private partnership (P3) development process.

The firm was also named as one of Sports Business Journal's Power Players in mixed used development. As noted by the magazine, "A call to [B&D] is often one of the first moves made by a sports property or university athletic department interested in advancing a mixed-use project."

Architecture firm VMDO walks us through Thurston Hall's transformation

Thurston Hall: A remarkable transformation

The renovation of Thurston Hall, The George Washington University's beloved residence hall for first-year students, was recognized by the American Institute of Architects (AIA) with three prestigious awards: the AIA National Architecture Award for setting new standards in design, the AIA Committee on the Environment Top 10 Award for its commitment to integrating sustainable design principles, and the AIA National Housing Award for creating a modern, inspiring student living environment.

Thurston Hall's renovation, which was led by VMDO Architects and was part of B&D's capital improvement advisory planning work with the university, exemplifies a trend toward revitalizing existing buildings. VMDO Architects enhanced the hall’s interior with a new courtyard and stepped outdoor terraces that increase natural light and green space. The redesign focused on student well-being, with improved indoor air quality, social spaces, and communal areas aimed at reducing social isolation and fostering community.

B&D would like to extend our heartfelt congratulations to VMDO Architects for their award!
