"Spider-Man: Homecoming," Thur.,
The perfect grand finale to our summer of Family Friendly Movies, the new Spider-Man: Homecoming is clever, fun and true to the Spider-Man spirit, according to all the positive reviews, which agree that this take on everyone's favorite web-slinger is thoroughly entertaining.
It's a fun, tween-friendly adventure with one of Marvel's most enduringly popular characters. Starring an actual teen, Tom Holland, as the super-hero high-schooler Peter Parker, the story takes young Spidey home after his experience with the Avengers and now under the watchful eye of mentor Tony Stark. He starts to embrace his newfound identity as Spider-Man, but he also tries to return to his normal daily routine. But, of course, that can't last long and Peter must soon put his powers to the test when the evil Vulture emerges to threaten everything that he holds dear.
It's an exclusive two-day-only run. Wed.-Thurs, Aug. 2-3, 3 and 7 pm. Tickets $7 adults, $5 children 12 and under

The kids gotta go back to school! And they'll cry if they want to. But we've got just the cure for those end-of-summertime blues. It's a Back-to-School Beach Party hosted by the two best bands -- those beach music heartthrobs, The Hypnotics, and those wild rockabilly boys, Crazy Man Crazy -- to end the summer with a rockin,' hoppin,' doo woppin' bang!
So put on your dancin' shoes, because you won't be able to stay in your seats when the joint starts jumpin' first with the blues rockin' soul of Elvis Presley, Carl Perkins and The Stray Cats from the best Rebel Roots Rockabilly band in the Southeast, Crazy Man Crazy fronted by bassist Stephen Palmer.

Tybee City Limits with Kris Youmans Band and Abe Partridge,
Sat. Sept. 19, 8 pm
We're bringing two soon-to-be-country superstars to the stage this month. You'll be telling everyone you saw them first - and together -- at the Tybee Post Theater.
First up is Abe Partridge from Mobile, Ala., and who has appeared at the Post in our Savannah Songwriters Series. He's a former Baptist preacher, Iraq war veteran and now, a lauded singer-songwriter. One reviewer said recently, "I can count on one hand how many live performances I have seen that gripped me, shook me up, and rattled me to the core. Abe Partridge is among them. His astonishing songwriting combined with his shocking performance will haunt you, and his studio recordings equally as strong! His alt-country album, "White Trash Lipstick" was recorded in Nashville.
Following Abe is another veteran of our stage. Kris Youmans & Her Mighty Fine Band, winner of the 2016 Georgia Country Awards for Traditional Artist. Youmans' songwriting style is strongly Roots influenced, and as traditional and southern as her hometown of Savannah. Her band, now based in Newnan, and including Barefoot Slim on Steel Guitar, David Puett on Guitar, Patrick Thompson Bass and Jerry Lee Percussion, help to achieve that high and lonesome sound which is the signature to their shows.
Sat. Aug. 19, 8 pm. Tickets $15 adults, $10 children 12 and under.
