If your student is interested in engaging in any of these programs, or you are in need of care for your students after school, please read below for more information and options.
AFTER SCHOOL POLICIES
- As a reminder, all students at DCI may only be present in the building after 3:50 p.m. each day for the following reasons: They are practicing with their sports team, they are enrolled in an after school club or care, or tutoring with a DCI teacher or staff member.
-
Students who are not engaged in the above three after school programs must vacate the building and our campus by 3:50 p.m. each day. They may not wait in the library, front desk, lounges, basketball court, field or any other area on our campus.
-
Please review this important one-pager of information, which is also included in our Student Handbook: DCI AFTER SCHOOL POLICIES
ATHLETICS AND SPORTS TRYOUTS
-
Tryouts have been announced for both Middle and High School Fall Athletics. Please CLICK HERE for more information and requirements.
-
Some sports at DCI will have tryouts concurrent with registration for Fall ACE Clubs. If your student’s preference is to be on a sports team over a club, we highly recommend you wait for teams to be announced prior to signing up for a club.
- Soccer tryouts and final team selections will take place prior to the opening of ACE Club Registration. Please do not register for clubs that conflict with the team practice schedule.
ACE CLUBS
- Fall ACE 2024 (Activities. Clubs. Extracurriculars) will take place from Monday, September 9th-Friday, December 6th, 2024. There is no ACE on days when school is closed including holidays, weather events and conferences. ACE clubs last from 3:45 p.m.-5:15 p.m., and there is an option for after care until 6:00 p.m. for an additional fee.
- We are still a couple of weeks out from being ready to announce our lineup of available Fall classes and open the Fall ACE Trimester for registration. This is because 90% of the people who teach these clubs are DCI Staff members who are still finalizing their schedules and availability to lead after school programming for the year.
- Once we have schedules and classes sorted, you will receive a communication on how to create or confirm your account on our registration system: CommunityPass. You will then receive information on available clubs along with all our registration policies. Finally you will receive a communication that ACE has opened for registration.
AFTER SCHOOL PROGRAM PRICING AND DISCOUNTS
-
Please click here for clear pricing information for ACE and Sports, inclusive of available discounts. All High School Clubs and Sports are free of participation fees.
- Tutoring at DCI is free of charge for students of all ages.
TUTORING
- All teachers at DCI hold tutoring hours. Some instructors meet during lunch and some after school. Both Middle and High School Tutoring Schedules will be finalized within the first week of school.
- If your student is in need of tutoring in a specific class, we encourage you (or them) to reach out to the teacher to inquire about their available tutoring hours directly.
- All DCI after school tutoring is offered free of charge.
- When students are done tutoring, they will need to fully vacate our campus or can drop in to ACE aftercare for a fee.
THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN TUTORING AND HOMEWORK HELP
- ‘Homework Help’ is an after school program offered as part of ACE. It is a paid program on a sliding scale based on FARMS status like all other ACE clubs (See after school program pricing above). It is a course wherein students will work with instructors to complete outstanding assignments. If you want a structured environment where your student is watched over and completes work, then this is a good course for them.
- If you want your student to have greater individualized attention and guidance to complete a project or unit from start to finish in a specific subject, then we recommend contacting their teacher about tutoring hours.
We hope this information aids you in your decision making for your student’s after school plans and activities! All of these policies are designed to provide greater safety and security after school in addition to extending learning and fun beyond the regular school day. The only option that is not acceptable, is for your student to linger in our building or on our campus unsupervised. We look forward to working with you to find a fun and safe care solution!
If you have any sports related questions please email athletics@dcinternationalschool.org, if you have any ACE questions please email acedci@dcinternationalschool.org and if you have any tutoring questions please contact your student’s Assistant Principal, Principal or individual teachers.
Sincerely,
Arlisa Williams, Senior Director of Student Life
Jillian Levine-Sisson (Ms. J), Director of Activities
