Empowerment3 - Overcoming Barriers
Equity & Inclusion
Last week 60 College of Business student organization leaders attended training featuring special guest speakers Dr. Thomas Moran and Engagement Fellow Rick Teo-Abrego from Empowerment3. Their presentation is a part of the CoB Office of Professional Development and Engagement’s January focus on the NACE Career Readiness Competency: Equity and Inclusion.
Dr. Moran and his team presented an interactive program, creating awareness and providing an inspiring perspective on how individuals, leaders, and companies can contribute to making a positive impact on the population living with disabilities. They shared with the group that the world’s largest minority population consists of individuals with disabilities. Dr. Moran concluded the session with a powerful quote: "Regardless of your ability or disability, we all face challenges in life. One can see them as hurdles or barriers. Barriers are designed to hold people back. Hurdles are made to jump over. The choice is yours."
