Merrill Avenue Construction & Traffic Impacts

Chino Airport Tenants,

All American is striping Eucalyptus Avenue in preparation for the Eucalyptus opening on Monday, July 22. Signage related to the Eucalyptus Avenue opening will be in place by 11 a.m. on Monday, July 22.

Message boards have been placed at Merrill and Euclid Avenues to inform the public of the Merrill Avenue closure scheduled on Thursday, July 25. 

The traffic patterns on Merrill Avenue will switch from two lanes on the south side of the street to two lanes on the north side of the street, going in both directions. Tenants and airport users are advised that entering the airport eastbound will be difficult and may be best accomplished from the westerly direction.

All closure and detours related signage will be in place by 11 a.m. Thursday, July 25, per Caltrans guidelines. Airport staff will be meeting with Caltrans, Ontario, and Chino next week to coordinate the remaining traffic requirements prior to the closure. 

Construction behind the closure between Euclid Avenue and Stearman Drive and south of Merrill Avenue will begin immediately. Airport property will be accessible from Stearman Drive to Grove Avenue during the closure.

Access to Stearman Drive will be from Sultana Avenue to westbound Merrill Avenue. The Airport frontage east of Sultana Avenue will not be impacted. 

Work on Merrill Avenue traffic signals and some some minor potholing work will not impact airport access.
