At the halfway point of the Holy Year of Mercy, how do we understand mercy in today’s world? More importantly, how do we prepare individuals to continue to participate in the Holy Year of Mercy? In this engaging presentation, Victor Valenzuela will look at various “tools” such as the Ten Commandments, The Beatitudes, and the Spiritual and Corporeal works of mercy as catechetical tools. He will share hands-on activities that are ready to implement in Sadlier’s religious education programs.

Gaudium et Spes
: “The joys and hopes, the griefs and anxieties of the men [and women] of this age…are the joys and hopes, the griefs and anxieties of the followers of Christ.” The echo of these words to me is both theological and cultural. She writes, “apprenticeship requires a
model
that awakens in us the desire to reach a
goal.

"Roles in Catechesis" by Patrice Spirou
1) Who is most responsible for catechesis in a parish? and 2) What is the role of the parish faith community in passing on the faith? Today, following the Holy Father’s lead, these questions are being re-examined with great intentionality at every level of the Church. The Church is now placing great emphasis on equipping the family and the community to assist them in taking up their role to evangelize and catechize.
