Small town of Mabank sees building boom as buyers seek affordable homes

People are looking all over North Texas for affordable homes, and some are willing to make hourlong commutes to towns like Mabank near Cedar Creek Lake to find them.
Builders have taken notice. One of the latest entrants to the Mabank market is Dallas-based Harp Home Builders, which has started construction of homes on a 60-acre property southeast of the intersection of State Highway 198 and FM 3080.

Kaufman County: the fastest growing county in the U.S.

According to newly– released population estimates, Kaufman County can now be called the fastest-growing county in the United States.
The county, which houses four of the 30–plus cities in the Dallas/Ft. Worth metroplex, is growing quickly and made The Dallas Morning News list in their recent Boomtown series which featured home builders in Mabank. Among the four cities exhibiting fast growth are Mabank, Quinlan, Forney, and Terrell.
