More information is being released about a new development project in Gun Barrel City.
"The economic impact of this project is significant," the GBCEDC said. "It will bring many well-paying jobs, multiple dining options, entertainment, public green spaces - all things our citizens requested in the most recent city surveys."
Residents can learn more about the development during a town hall meeting scheduled for Friday, June 2, at 6 p.m. at the Gun Barrel City Council Chambers, located at 1716 W. Main St.

How Gun Barrel City is seeing growth while keeping a small-town feel

Country living, with lake access and lots of growth. It's what makes Gun Barrel City unique, along with its support for one particular presidential candidate - Willie Nelson.
It's an eclectic city that brings something for everyone, and it seems like everyone is catching on. Diane Johannes, president of the Gun Barrel City Economic Development Corporation, said the city saw a lot of growth during the pandemic.
"Nobody wanted to be in the city, everybody, now wanted to be at the lake. So our sales tax revenue actually increased during that time," Johannes said.

Gun Barrel City clears buildings to make way for new park area; Mabank ball parks get new trees
Cedar Creek Lake
Workmen recently removed Big Chief Lodging's buildings from the site of the 1960s-era motel, restaurant and boat house on Highway 334.
Gun Barrel City's Economic Development officials say it will be about two years until plans are made for development of the site. Until then, the area will be used for launching boats, fishing and picnics.
One of the plans to be considered will be a convention center, but city officials will seek input from taxpayers before developing such a project.
