Melody Anne Butler is a mother of four and a Registered Nurse who works on Long Island, New York, as an Infection Preventionist with previous pediatric nursing experience at Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center since 2007. In 2011, she founded Nurses Who Vaccinate , a not-for-profit organization that provides nurses, health care professionals and vaccine advocates with current evidence-based information on immunizations, current recommendations, and benefits of immunizing. Members are immunization advocates in the workplace, community and on social media websites encouraged to be vaccine champions among colleagues, patients and the public.

Melody’s work with Nurses Who Vaccinate has given her opportunities to participate on advisory roles within national public health organizations such as Voices for Vaccines, Vaccinate Your Family, and Shot@Life, a United Nations Foundation Campaign. Melody also serves as a member of the National Vaccine Advisory Committee (NVAC) which is a federal advisory committee that is utilized by the Department of Health and Human Services and works directly with the Office of the Assistant Secretary for Health.

Melody is dedicated to helping children everywhere lead happy and healthy lives.
Overview
Healthcare providers are a trusted voice in the community and have a unique opportunity to provide important, accurate information and resources to the public and to their peers.

Now more than ever we need nurses, pharmacists, physicians and educators in the public and private sector to speak up and take a strong stand on behalf of public health and immunization. Our July Education Hour will feature Melody Butler, BSN, RN, and Executive Director of Nurses Who Vaccinate who will talk about her work and various roles as a nurse and public health leader - in her work, online and in the media.
