President's Message

As we approach the end of 2022 and into the festive season, we look to renewed hope for the Caribbean to move past recovery and into robust growth. The recent Forward Keys data presented at our inaugural Caribbean Travel Forum in October points to a successful rebound and projected growth for Caribbean tourism.

While this growth has not been linear and/or equal amongst all destinations it highlights the tremendous resilience and demand for the region. Well, members, the news is good. All indicators are that Caribbean tourism is back!

Industry Data

The Caribbean continues to see a positive recovery in tourist arrivals.

According to the United Nations World Tourism Organization's (UNWTO) latest statistics (September 2022), most Caribbean countries continue to show a strong recovery in tourist arrivals by comparison with many regions of the world.

The UNWTO data indicates that globally, tourist arrivals through July 2022 were at 57.1% of the same seven months of 2019 while arrivals to the Caribbean region as a whole reached 81.9% of the total for the same period of 2019.

CEO Corner

In October, CHTA brought together the Caribbean hospitality and tourism industry along with global partners for the most important gathering the industry has experienced over the past three years.

Caribbean Travel Marketplace not only provided a platform for suppliers from 25 Caribbean destinations and buyers from 23 markets to meet but it was a much-needed catalyst for all those in attendance and particularly for CHTA as an organization.

CHTA Awards Recognize Resilience and Excellence in Caribbean Tourism

In keeping with its commitment to advance the quality, sustainability and profitability of the tourism industry in the Caribbean, the Caribbean Hotel and Tourism Association (CHTA) has announced the winners of its 2022 Destination Resilience and Caribbean Hotel Industry Exchange Forum (CHIEF) awards.
