Dear CHT Member,

Exciting things are happening on the real estate development front! Currently we have 15 projects and 550 homes to rehab, acquire or build in our pipeline - an historic amount. One project that's in the works is converting a hotel in Williston into 72 permanently affordable homes for both people coming out of homelessness and for our workforce.

As our community continues to struggle with a lack of affordable housing, this new project will make a huge, positive impact in the lives of future residents. Thanks to our federal delegation and State leaders for making these resources available. It is our hope that these apartments will be available in early 2022. Visit our website to learn about the steps to apply for rental housing.

Financial assistance continues to be an option for homeowners and renters who need it. We encourage households that qualify to apply now.

We also are very happy to report that CHT staff are 100% vaccinated and are wearing masks. Please stay safe!

A "Life Changing" Experience
“It was life changing. Just to be able to live in a hotel room. Which really just shows how hard it was before then.”

Cory Tedford and Josh Alderman were among the many Vermonters struggling to find stable housing last year. A turning point arrived when they were approved for a motel room at Harbor Place. After working with CHT staff they've found permanent housing in the newly completed Congress Street Apartments in their hometown of St. Albans. Now they're excited for what the future holds.

Suicide Prevention Awareness Month
Gov. Scott declared September National Suicide Prevention Awareness Month in Vermont. Suicidal thoughts can affect anyone, of any age, gender, race, orientation, income level, religion, or background. Talking about suicide with someone you care about does not increase their risk of harm and may allow them to open up and accept help. Being involved in activities and connecting with others is beneficial, too. Look for events and activities on town websites, parks and recreation listings, Front Porch Forum, Facebook groups, local news channels, and Seven Days newspaper.

If you or someone you care about is struggling with depression or suicidal thoughts, help and support are available 24/7/365. During a medical emergency call 911 immediately.
