As the year 2021 ended, I was astounded and deeply grateful for the generous gifts and financial support we received. We truly live in a remarkable community. And as 2022 begins, I know we are energized by the enormous opportunities and challenges before us. The need is great - and the opportunity to respond is even greater. Our intention is to rise to these challenges and make a difference in people’s lives and communities.

As a start, we are now taking applications for 20 new homes at Butternut Grove Condominiums in Winooski. And soon we’ll share updates in this newsletter about the development of other projects in the works - more than 260 new apartments are coming this year!

We are looking forward to seeing you Thursday, January 27th at CHT’s Virtual Annual Meeting. Consider this your invitation! If you haven’t registered, please do so by January 25th. As a special enticement, we will be sending $18 Visa gift cards to all who attend!

At the meeting, we will be electing two new Board members, and bidding farewell and thanks to Resident Homeowner Board Members Ian Boyd, who purchased our 500th home, and Bob Robbins, who has served many roles on the Board, most recently as President.

Champlain Housing Trust has completed its purchase of the Days Inn motel in Shelburne! This is the eighth lodging establishment CHT has acquired since 2013. In the coming months, CHT's Harbor Place will move its operations to this new site, setting in motion a plan to redevelop Harbor Place with nearly 100 affordable homes.
