Dear CHT Member,
Last week we were joined by housing partners, Senator Sanders, Mayor Mulvaney-Stanak, Howard Plant VFW Post 782 leaders, the Speaker of the House and Senate President Pro Tem, and members of the Vermont House and Senate for a groundbreaking at Post Apartments in Burlington. With 38 permanently affordable apartments, including 25% directed to people who've been homeless and veterans, this downtown development will not only provide new homes, but also a new Veterans' Center for the VFW Post and space for the Community Justice Center.
A new resource is available on our website where we regularly post development project updates so you can see what’s in progress along with other details.
Although not quite the cover of Rolling Stone, Vermont Business Magazine featured a story about my life and work. It was a bit more personal than I expected, but I am glad it highlighted the work we are doing here at CHT.
I was saddened to hear about the closing of Sara Holbrook Community Center. Like many of you, I expected it to do good work in our community for years to come. As of this writing, CHT has made an offer to purchase the building so that it can continue to be used to serve families and children in the Old North End and Burlington community.
Check out photos from our Members’ Day Picnic at North Beach. I had fun seeing so many of you there.
Enjoy the rest of summer!
