Colonial Heights Presbyterian Church is a congregation that
values a diversity of belief. Whether you're full of faith or full of doubt,
you'll find people who have been there and accept you for where you are.

We welcome all people to worship, pray, eat, seek spiritual answers and enjoy life within this community of faith. All are welcome!

Our Pumpkins are Almost Here

Our Pumpkins are coming this weekend! The first delivery arrive this Saturday at 9am. This year's supply includes over 1,200 pumpkins, so we will need all hands on deck to help unload. Coffee and donuts will be provided and we hope to see you there!

Volunteering in the Patch

The Pumpkin Patch is set to return to CHPC this Sunday afternoon! Our Patch will be open from October 1 through 31. Pumpkins will be sold daily from 11am to 7pm, seven days a week. Volunteers are needed to serve in two-hour time slots to work the patch and sell pumpkins. There is a sign-up sheet in the narthex, or you can contact Tyler to sign up. You can also click the link below to view the calendar online.

Pumpkin Patch Calendar

A special survey was emailed to the congregation on Tuesday, September 19 so that you can let us know how you are able to serve during this month-long mission. Thank you for taking the time to complete it! Physical copies are available in the Narthex and a link is below for anyone that would like to fill it in now. Thank you for helping us create this fun-filled time of fellowship for our community as our church family strives to serve others. See you in the patch soon!

Peace and Global Witness Offering

On World Communion Sunday we celebrate that Christ’s peace extends throughout all of God's creation. We celebrate that we are all together at the table, in God’s house.

Peace is active, not passive. Peace is doing, not waiting. We celebrate that we are offeredwhat we need to continue the work of building the household of God with active peacemakers here at home and around the world.

This Sunday as a shared offering, your gifts on World Communion Sunday to the Peace & Global Witness Offering support peacemaking in your own community, your own region and places around the world. Thank you for your generosity; for when we all do a little, it adds up to a lot.

September Cents-Ability Collection

We raised over $488 dollars during the month of September! Thank you so much for bringing your donations and for participating in the ministry of feeding people in our community.

Do you or your household still need a Cents-Ability Collection jar?

If so please contact Tyler.

Church Field Trip to Brights Zoo

We had such a great time on our church trip to Brights Zoo! Thanks to everyone who joined this outing, and thanks to Brights for hosting us as we enjoyed all of these beautiful creatures!

A Note About Pastoral Care and The Phone Tree

Condolences are offered to the family and friends of Clara Hasbrouck who passed away on September 21 in the evening at NHC. A Service of Witness to the Resurrection is scheduled for 11am on Friday, October 20, here at the church. Please hold Charlie, their sons Chuck, Bruce, and Keith, and their entire family in your prayers.

As with any death within the church family, the staff attempted to use the phone tree to notify the congregation of Clara's passing last week, however, that service is no longer available. The company that previously ran the phone tree has stopped offering that product this month. While research is underway for another efficient communication tool, please contact the church office directly if there are ever any appropriate questions about timely details or arrangements.

Please remember that all pastoral care concerns may always be given to David directly or to a member of the Care Shepherd team. Doris Fields is the Elder for CHPC's Care Shepherd ministry and is available to assist as well. October's Care Shepherds are Dusty Newman, Barbara Carter, and Ann Johnson.

The Youth Group will meet in the Pumpkin Patch this Sunday night! From 5-7pm; we will work the patch, eat dinner, fellowship, and have a short bible study.

Thank you to all who came out this past month during CHPC's September Suppers and James Bible Study! It was a wonderful time together and plans are underway for another series of suppers and talks during Lent.

The Shoebox Ministry is in full swing! If you are interested in sponsoring a shoebox gift for a child in need, please sign-up with Brenda or Jonathan Hutchins. The cost is $5.00 per box. The Hutchins’ will have your box at church by September 24. Instructions and gift suggestions will be included in your box. All you have to do is shop and return the filled box to the Narthex by October 29. Thank you to all who nominated individuals to serve in leadership for the coming year. Please pray for the members of your nominating committee while they discern who the Spirit of God is resting upon to care for our church family.

CHPC partners again with the Marsh Regional Blood Center on Sunday November 5, from 1-4pm. The Marsh Regional Blood Center bloodmobile will be taking blood donations in our parking lot and you may sign up for a time-slot by contacting the church office. Please click here to view medical requirements for donating. Walk-ins are also welcome so please spread the word about this important ministry!

The Chancel Choir joins with other choirs from Colonial Heights United Methodist and King University to present a Community All-Saints Remembrance on Sunday, November 5 at 3:00 pm at CHUMC. They will be singing a dynamic and inspiring musical work, Gospel Mass by Robert Ray, directed by our own Jason Whitson who is on the faculty of King University. Please plan to attend and invite friends and family!
