Colonial Heights Presbyterian Church is a congregation that
values diversity of belief. Whether you are full of faith or full of doubt
you'll find people who have been there and accept you for where you are.

We welcome all people to worship, pray, eat, seek spiritual answers and enjoy life within our community of faith. All are welcome!
A New Bible Study at CHPC
Bible Study is important to me. It is a joy-filled activity that has become a key aspect of my identity within ministry. Like worship, it is a holy moment when the Spirit freely moves within a group seeking to listen and learn together from God's Word.

I'm excited to announce a new Congregational Bible Study will be offered at CHPC this Fall. We will be turning to various passages of the Old Testament with the help of Brent Strawn's new book, "Lies My Preacher Told Me: An Honest Look at the Old Testament." This six week study will begin on October 6 and will run through November 17. The class will meet online via Zoom each Wednesday from 5:30 to 6:30 pm. A second class may be offered at another time depending on the level of interest. Please contact Jan or David in the church office to sign up. Books will be available for 15 dollars and will be ordered on Sept 24th.

I hope you will join me in this new adventure as we study God's Word together. As always, all are welcome!

Gratefully,
- David

The flowers in the Sanctuary are given to the Glory of God in memory of Jane Shipley and R. L. Zimmerman by Tom Shipley and Joanie Zimmerman.

Current Covid Protocols
Out of an abundance of caution and a shared desire to love others as Christ calls us to do, the following church ministries have been adjusted by the Session until October 1. This includes all individuals masking while on campus and certain programs going outside or online. You may read the guidelines in detail here. Thank you for your willingness to love thy neighbor in these ways as we seek to faithfully serve in Christ's name.

A Service of Installation
Mark your calendars for Sunday, September 26, for a special worship service installing our new pastor, David Randolph. We will be joined by a commission from Holston Presbytery which includes Dr. Martha Moore-Keish, the J.B. Green Professor of Theology at Columbia Theological Seminary. Dr. Moore-Keish was David's professor in seminary and will preach on this special day. A reception with hor d'oeuvres will follow worship and all are welcome!

Youth Group
Youth Group continues this coming Sunday, September 19, from 5:00 to 6:00 pm, under the pavilion. The midweek Bible study continues each Wednesday from 6:00 to 7:00 pm as well. Dinner will be provided at both events.

Interim Youth Leader
CHPC is looking for an Interim Youth Leader to serve our youth throughout the school year. This position will be responsible for leading youth ministry activities including Sunday Night Youth Group, Special Youth Events, and a Youth Bible Study on Wednesday evenings. To apply click here.

Nursery Worker Needed

Habitat for Humanity
Our Habitat house is underway. Footers were poured last week! There are several ways you can support Habitat - with prayers, financial gifts or by volunteering! We have raised just over 2,500 so far in support of our $5,000 goal. Thank you for supporting this important ministry!

CHPC is scheduled to work week 2 on October 14, 15 and 16 and will need 5 volunteers each day.  If you would like to volunteer, here’s how to signup: Register here using the password holston or by contacting the church office which has specific instructions. If you have questions or issues signing up online, you can contact Mandy Penz at Holston Habitat at volunteer@holstonhabitat.org or 423-239-7689, ext. 801. Please pray for our Habitat team and volunteers as they plan and organize this important effort!
