Colonial Heights Presbyterian Church is a congregation that
values a diversity of belief. Whether you're full of faith or full of doubt,
you'll find people who have been there and accept you for where you are.

We welcome all people to worship, pray, eat, seek spiritual answers and enjoy life within this community of faith. All are welcome!
Something Old, Something New,
Something Important!
August 27 will mark the restart, for the very first time, of an Old Mission Project that is Brand New. It is called Cents-Ability.

It is “old” in the sense that it is based on collecting an offering at each meal and shares the process with the Five Cents A Meal project we had in place B.C. (before COVID). It is NEW in the sense that there is no set amount – we are to give what we can and feel led to give. Also NEW is that our Church will decide what to do with money collected.

So, what will we do with the money? For the rest of 2023, we will use it to help stock the Blessing Box (we still need Donations for the BB) and help people that have needs for food through the Pastor’s Fund. In the future, we could use this offering to help pay for a Rise Against Hunger event at our church, help with food needs at the Kitchen of Good Hope, and with new ideas to help meet food needs in our community.

It is IMPORTANT because there are Real needs for food right here, right now and we can help. It is also Important because Cents-Ability can also act as a reminder 3 times every day that we are both Capable and have the Responsibility to help people in need. Helping with food issues is just one of the many ways we can show God’s love to people in our community. As a reminder, Jesus gave us some specific ways to help in Matthew 25:31–46.

The Children of the Church are helping with Cents-Ability by providing containers that you and your family may use to collect coins at each meal. If you did not pick one up on Sunday and want one, please contact the office and let the staff know. We will collect the Cents-Ability offering in worship on the the last Sunday of each month. The first collection will be on August 27. You may bring your coins, write a check (include Cents-Ability on the memo line) or give on-line (check the Cents-Ability box).

I’d like to close with this simple Prayer: Dear God, we have been given so much. Help us to express our thankfulness for this abundance by committing ourselves to the feeding of all your people. Amen.

In Christ,
Allen Booth
