Thank You For Supporting
Vacation Bible School
This year's Vacation Bible School could not have gone any better! We had such a blast this past week. This year, over 60 children registered for VBS from our church, Colonial Heights United Methodist, and the greater Colonial Heights community! It has truly been a great time of teaching our children how to be peacemakers in the world as they played, as they crafted, and as they studied together.

Big thanks to our friends over at Colonial Heights United Methodist Church for partnering with us to make this VBS program a great one. And from the bottom of my heart, thank you so much to all of the volunteers who came out to support and spend time investing in the lives of our children. From the kitchen, to clean up, to the games, to the crafts, and to the group leaders; every set of helping hands made the difference in the lives of these kids. God bless you for the great ministry that was done here at CHPC this week!

Grace and Peace,
-Tyler P

Sunday's Scripture (NRSV):

Sermon Title:
“Spirit of Compassion”

"The Witch of Endor" from The Macklin Bible by Benjamin West (1738-1820) and Robert Shipster.

Our church family returns to the story of First Samuel for the next two weeks as we finish the royal story of Israel's journey towards a divinely appointed king. This week's text comes from chapter 28 and I'll encourage everyone to read it in preparation for worship because it's most likely a text you've never heard from the pulpit before.

Why is the Israel's story of discernment so important for us these years later? What word of compassion is there for us to learn from King Saul's epiphany near the end of his tragic story? Let's find out together.

Gratefully,
- David
Rally Day & August Splash Down

And don't forget that our Rally Day celebration continues later that night for our annual August Splash Down at the Kingsport Aquatic Center! All are welcome from 6:30-8:30 for ice cream, snacks, games, water fun, and more. Invite your friends and we hope to see you there!
Thank You for Supporting Habitat!
The important ministry of Habitat continues throughout the next few weeks, so please continue to pray for everyone who works hard to help make this house a home. Thank you for your continued support!
