Our Group is back from the
Montreat Youth Conference!
| |
Last week, part of the CHPC Youth Group had the awesome opportunity to travel to Montreat, NC to participate in the Montreat Youth Conference! While there, we gathered with almost 800 other youth from throughout the country to worship, pray, learn, and grow in our faith.
Since it was our second year, we were able to dive into the experience quicker and more easily! Our group made stronger connections with other high schoolers during their small group time and our discussions after worship were deep and edifying.
If possible, this year was more enriching than last year for our group! I am so proud of what they got out of the week. In her own words, one youth would like to share: "Thank you for the great experience. It gave me the opportunity to meet so many new people, and have a lot of fun!"
In Christ,
- Tyler

Our Summer Sermon Series through Galilee continues this week as we walk with Jesus by the seashore. Sometimes the waters of life can get choppy and a storm can come out of no where, but we are never alone because Jesus is with us. Come and see this Prince of Peace who can calm the stormy seas and empowers us to not live in fear.
Sunday's Scripture:
Psalm 107:1-3, 23-32 NRSV
Mark 4:35-41, NRSV

Can Your Family Make It For Mini-Golf?
CHPC will be hosting a family outing this coming Sunday, June 23, as we head out to Paradise Acres in Boones Creek at 4pm. Their address is 4946 North Roan Street, Johnson City, TN 37615. This is a 15 minute drive from the church, straight down Fort Henry Drive, heading south. We'll gather together in the parking lot and then enter the course together. The cost will be $5 per person. Dinner is not included, but concessions are open and we've heard their ice cream, Ashby's Sterling, is world class! Let Tyler know you can make it and see you there!
Thank You for Partnering with
Second Harvest Food Bank!
| |
Dear Members and Staff of CHPC,
You are Second Harvest Super Heroes! Thank you for immediately responding to an emergency call to help feed 100 girls who are participating in the Girls Inc. of Johnson City’s summer program. It was an unusual and last minute need that popped up in the food bank’s Summer Food Service program also known as our Summer Feeding Program.
According to Feeding America’s most recent Map the Meal Gap Study 18,630 (19.1%) of children under the age of eighteen in our eight-county service region in Northeast Tennessee are food insecure. Our goal is to provide 40,000 meals across our region to children and youth this summer and you kindly provided 400 of those 40,000 meals. Wow! You made a difference and we are grateful. On behalf of the staff of Second Harvest Food Bank of Northeast Tennessee thank you for providing yummy and nutritional meals for the girls!
On a personal note. You are a congregation of faith in action, compassion, generosity and hospitality. It was an honor to worship with you and serve alongside you for a brief but blessed time while Brad served as your Interim Pastor. You are a dear congregation! Thank you also for praying for me during my recent health issue! I am doing well. All my best to you ALWAYS.
In Christ,
- Lee Walker
