Colonial Heights Presbyterian Church is a congregation that

values a diversity of belief. Whether you're full of faith or full of doubt,

you'll find people who have been there and accept you for where you are.

We welcome all people to worship, pray, eat, seek spiritual answers,

and enjoy life within this community of faith. All are welcome!

Montreat Youth Conference

The Youth Group leaves this Sunday afternoon to go to Montreat, North Carolina to attend the Montreat Youth Conference! They will be with other Presbyterian students from all over the country; spending the week worshipping, praying, learning, and growing together. This is the second year in a row our church as sent a group and our students could not be more excited! This year's theme is "Planting Peace" and we look forward to learning more about how God can cultivate peace within the lives of our young people.

This week should truly be a monumental experience for our youth, and in worship this Sunday, we will be praying over our students and chaperones, commissioning them as they embark upon this trip. We invite you to please keep these young people in your prayers as they experience this great opportunity. Pray for safety, good weather, open hearts and minds, and for the Holy Spirit to be with them throughout the week!

This Sunday in Worship:

June 9, 2024 - Third Sunday After Pentecost

Join us this Sunday as we continue our Summer Sermon Series where we will accompany Jesus throughout the region of Galilee. Mark's Gospel begins in Galilee and it concludes by telling Jesus' followers they will see him again in Galilee. Come and see how the simple message of an itinerant religious teacher from a small fishing community sparked a spiritual fire that set our world ablaze!

Sunday's Scripture:

2 Corinthians 4:13-5-1, NRSV

Mark 3:20-35, NRSV

Sermon Title:

"Gone Out of His Mind"

Second Harvest Food Bank Missional Need

CHPC has been asked to step in to help one of our ministry partners, Second Harvest Food Bank, meet a very important need to feed the hungry. Next week, we will be lending a helping hand to Second Harvest by supplying and packing food for one of their non-profit partners, Girls Inc. of Johnson City.

Starting this Tuesday, June 11, and for the following three days, we are asking for four volunteers a day to meet and help pack 100 lunches a day for the 100 young women who are attending the Summer Camp at Girls Inc. Volunteers will meet from 9am to 11:30am at the church.

If you are willing to help Tuesday through Friday of next week, there will be a sign up sheet in the Narthex this Sunday. For further questions or to sign up, contact Brenda Hutchins.

Ministry Highlight: The Blessing Box

Through the Blessing Box, there is a constant and ongoing ministry that our church provides to people in need within our community. CHPC is proud of the fact that people who are in need of food will always be able to find their next meal on our church property.

Since this is a continuous ministry, the Mission Committee would like to remind the church once again that our stock of supplies continuously needs to be replenished. At this time, one of the bigger needs that we would like to make a special request for are canned meats and hearty soups. Donations are always accepted in the Narthex in the marked baskets. Also, if you would like a copy of the complete list of items that we stock in the blessing box, see the wicker collection basket in the Narthex. Thank you for your donations to this vital ministry!
