Colonial Heights Presbyterian Church is a congregation that

values a diversity of belief. Whether you're full of faith or full of doubt,

you'll find people who have been there and accept you for where you are.

We welcome all people to worship, pray, eat, seek spiritual answers, and enjoy life within this community of faith. All are welcome!

Upcoming Kid-Focused Summer Events

Our May Day Fun Night for kids is right around the corner! This should be an exciting evening for our children and youth, so be sure to sign up and show up! Children four and older will enjoy a movie and game night while their caregivers take a sabbath rest! The movie will be "The Emperors New Grove" (rated G) and pizza for dinner is included; drop off is at 5 in the gym, pickup at 8pm. Friends are most welcome, so please spread the word and let Tyler know how many to expect.

Volunteers will be a crucial component to ensure this event is a success, so please contact Tyler if you are interested in serving! It will be one of the best Friday evenings to have fun and invest in the lives of our children, you won't want to miss it. Thank you for your willingness to serve!

Also, be sure to save the date for a few fun opportunities that are taking place over the summer! In June, our families will be enjoying an outing to Paradise Acres to go play some mini golf. Then in July, the whole family of faith is invited to travel down the road to Warrior's Path State Park for a church family picnic and field day! Mark your calendars now and invite others to join us as we fellowship together as the Body of Christ.

This Sunday in Worship:

May 12, 2024 - Seventh Sunday of Easter

The phrase "God is love" is something we modern Christians may take for granted since we've encountered this poetic language so many times; and yet, it is deeply powerful and personal. Last week, we learned about how Christ offers us our identity as branches on the vine. This week, we look to God the Father to see how best to express that love within a world that desperately needs to be reminded about it. All are welcome to accompany us as we study and learn, with God's help, how to more deeply abide in the love of God!

Sunday's Scripture:

1 John 5:1-8, NRSV

John 15:9-17, NRSV

Sermon Title:

"Abide in God"

Come share the Peace of Christ with coffee and fellowship before worship beginning at 9:30am in the Parlor!

Sleep in Heavenly Peace Bed Delivery

Thank you to the volunteers who delivered beds this past weekend! It was wonderful to see the smiles on these children's faces when they received the gift of a bed to make sure they have a good night's sleep. Special thanks to anyone who has donated a quilt to give as well!

Be on the look out for more information in the future for how you can participate in this meaningful ministry.

Pentecost Fellowship Meal

Pentecost is on Sunday, May 19 and CHPC will celebrate with a congregational lunch after worship under the pavilion. All are welcome to enjoy this catered meal by our friends on CFL as we break bread together.

Pentecost Special Offering

Jesus's words, "I am coming to you," means Jesus will always be at our side. This is the hope and inspiration that carries us forward and is fundamental to our faith. Join us this Pentecost Sunday on May 19th as we collect for this Special Offering. The gifts that go to the Presbyterian Special Offerings builds a foundation of faith for young people and help instill in them a heartfelt understanding of the ways God comes to them every single day. This is an opportunity for us to partner in nurturing the faith of our future generations by giving what you can. When we all do a little it adds up to a lot!
