Colonial Heights Presbyterian Church is a congregation that

values a diversity of belief. Whether you're full of faith or full of doubt,

you'll find people who have been there and accept you for where you are.

We welcome all people to worship, pray, eat, seek spiritual answers, and enjoy life within this community of faith. All are welcome!

Thanks For A Wonderful

Children's Sunday Service!

A BIG thank you to everyone who participated in last week's special children's service! The kids enjoyed being able to share a little bit of what happens downstairs with everyone who stays upstairs. Making space in the sanctuary for our youngest members to feel welcomed, uplifted, and loved by the whole of our church family will make a huge difference in the lives of these kids. And if you loved the service, we hope you would consider signing up to volunteer with either our Nursery or our Children's Ministry. We could always use the extra help! Contact Tyler if you are interested.

Wednesday Prayer Gathering

The Spirit is moving on Wednesdays at CHPC with a weekly prayer gathering at 6:30pm. All are welcome to participate in this 30 minute intentional time of prayer and contemplation. Please contact Elder Donna Whitson if you would like to know more or get involved. Read from her below for a little peek into how impactful these meetings can be!

"Being in our prayer group brings an intensity to my Christian journey that grounds me. There is an honesty and a yearning there to seek after God's heart. There is the truth and confidence that God hears in our heartfelt prayers. There is a healing balm to my soul that our group is praying with and for us. We are always surprised when our 30 minute prayer meeting ends because the prayer conversation is so beautiful, rich, and meaningful to each of us. There is power in prayer!"

Congregational News

Condolences are offered to the family and friends of Leon Boyd who passed away on Monday, April 8. A small family service will be held at a later date. Please keep Leon's grandson, Matthew, and his family in your prayer over the days ahead.

A Service of Witness to the Resurrection in celebration of the life of Miller Lyons will be held in the sanctuary at 6:00pm on Thursday, April 18. Please keep all who loved him in your prayers as we prepare to give thanks to God for the gift of Miller's life.

The Flowers in the Sanctuary are given to the glory of God and placed in memory of Minerva Sexton and Leigh Ann Harless by Arnold Sexton.

Sunday School classes continue after worship on Sunday, April 14 at 11:15am. Please reach out to any member of either adult classes to learn how you can participate in these meaningful conversations.

CHPC hosts Holston Camp and Retreat Center (HCRC) on Sunday, April 28, for their annual support dinner within Holston Presbytery. While the camp has seen many changes over the years, their main goal in ministry continues to be serving children and adults through an outdoor, faith-based setting. It all is embodied in their new camp tagline, "Sharing the Love of Christ, Living in God's Creation." HCRC is now a registered 501(c)(3) organization with its own Board in a covenant relationship with the Holston Presbytery and the churches in Avery County, North Carolina. This dinner helps to financially support their meaningful ministry and space is available for anyone from the church that wishes to attend. Please contact Mike Stricker or David Randolph to learn more.

Save the date for a special children's and youth night at CHPC on Friday, May 17. Kiddos will enjoy a movie and game night while their caregivers take a sabbath breath.

The Wednesday Afternoon Bible Study will be reading the book "Lies My Preacher Told Me - An Honest Look at the Old Testament" by Brent A. Strawn. It's not too late to join! Extra copies are available for anyone who would like to join the discussion each Wednesday at 3pm in the parlor. Hope to see you there!

All items for the weekly online newsletter should be emailed to Mary at office@chpres.org by end of business on Tuesday.
