Colonial Heights Presbyterian Church is a congregation that

values a diversity of belief. Whether you're full of faith or full of doubt,

you'll find people who have been there and accept you for where you are.

We welcome all people to worship, pray, eat, seek spiritual answers, and enjoy life within this community of faith. All are welcome!

Don't Forget about this Sunday's

Children's Ministry Interest Meeting!

We hope you can make it this Sunday for an important discussion about our church's ministry for our children. This is an opportunity for us as a church family to share some information about upcoming changes to our children’s programming, discuss exciting opportunities for our kids this year, and to collectively dream about what direction we would like the children’s ministry to take. We will meet Sunday after worship during the Sunday School hour for discussion in the youth center. Hope to see you there!

This Sunday in Worship:

March 17, 2024 - Fifth Sunday in Lent

Anytime God makes a promise with God's people, the word used within the broader biblical narrative to describe this promise is called a covenant. “Covenant” is the word we find in scripture for a promise between God and God’s people. Last week, we learned about God's covenant with David and his descendants - a promise of divine fidelity, love, and grace. This week, we return to the wilderness with Israel as God's people wrestle with the reality of broken dreams while still clinging to the promise that God is ever faithful, even in the midst of Exile.

Sunday's Scripture:

Jeremiah 29:1, 4-7, 10-14, NRSV

Jeremiah 31:31-34, NRSV

Sermon Title:

“Covenants & Promises:

The Renewed Temple"

The Season of Lent at CHPC

Our Wednesday evening Lenten Prayer Gatherings have been an impactful time of prayer. Thanks to everyone who has attended throughout this Lenten season. As a reminder, our last prayer gathering will be next Wednesday, the 20th. Please contact Elder Donna Whitson if you would like to know more or get involved.

Don't forget this Sunday Night's Fellowship Dinner is a Potluck!

Join us on March 17 from 5 to 6:30pm in the gym for our final Lenten Bible Study on the book of Jonah. Children will participate in a special music and bible study program after dinner. Sunday's supper is a potluck meal; our Christian Family Life committee suggests that attendees bring either a meat dish, a side and bread, or dessert and bread. We are looking forward to seeing you there!

Save the Date for these Holy Week Services

Rise Against Hunger

CHPC has an opportunity to partner with Rise Against Hunger and do something about people around the world who are facing food shortages. Be sure to save the date on Sunday, August 25 to meet in the gym and package meals to help those in need. Our goal is to pack 16,750 meals in two hours.  This is an event that all ages can do together, adults and children alike.

The cost for this project is $7,000 in total and we need to raise another $4,000 to make this event happen. Please help us address hunger by giving a special donation to this project by Easter Sunday, March 31. You can write a check to the church and designate it for Rise Against Hunger. You may also give online via the website here. Let’s be the hands and feet of Jesus. Together, we can turn the tide against hunger and make a difference!
