February 2024

Principal Message

Families,

Earlier this week, you were notified that report card grades had been posted for your students.  Below you will find additional guidance on accessing and interpreting the report card.  Our goal is to be able to communicate with you on the learning, growth, and achievement of your student in relation to academic standards.  Along with communication from teachers throughout the year, we formally communicate four times per year on your child’s academic, behavioral and social progress: twice at Parent/Teacher Conferences and twice with semester report cards.

As always, please feel free to reach out to us if you have any questions or concerns around the report card, or if you have any problem accessing this through Infinite Campus.

We’re excited to welcome February here at Cottage Grove School!  Our newsletter this month has more information and some important dates coming up this month and beyond.

Thanks,

Jesse Starr

Principal

MG Superintendent Search Process Update

After more than 30 years in education and over two decades in school and district administration, Monona Grove School District Superintendent Dan Olson announced in December his plans to retire at the end of the current school year. MGSD is now engaged in a comprehensive search for the next superintendent.

In its commitment to transparency, inclusivity, and collaboration, MGSD will engage all constituents of the district (students, families, staff, community members and other stakeholders) to share their valuable insights, perspectives, and expectations for the next educational leader.

An electronic survey will be available for any Monona Grove stakeholder to share their input and feedback. The survey will be emailed to staff and families in February and will be available on our website for all other stakeholders.

Focus groups will be held in February (both virtually and in-person); dates and times are listed on the Superintendent Search page of our website. More details will be available soon.

February Safety Drill

Cottage Grove School will hold a lockdown drill on February 14th for all students and staff.
