FROM THE DESK OF THE PRESIDENT

Dear Members and Friends,

As we move forward into the future of our Federation it is important that we whole heartedly embrace planning and developing ways for our clubs to prepare for what is to come.

Do you know what your club mission is? Do you have a long range planning committee in place? If not, read your club’s mission statement and please get a committee started that will work to set goals and strategies for reaching them. Our members are reflective of our diversity and the strength that we garner from it. Through the diversity of our members we have many opportunities to join differing groups in our areas and join together to make a difference in our communities.

Be sure to have your membership trifolds and business cards with you when participating in community activities as others will surely reach out to you with questions about becoming members of your clubs. Our members are the catalyst to “Igniting the Volunteer Spirit” in others!

Never miss an opportunity to share our Federation as “Strength United is Stronger” and we are stronger together!

Love,

Sonya

CALIFORNIA CLUBWOMAN MAGAZINE - LU ARREDONDO, Editor

Share your Impact

The Clubwoman Magazine team is beginning to put the October Issue together.  We are asking clubs and districts to submit pictures and stories about their projects over the last few months.

Do you have a member you would like to highlight for their volunteerism? Long-term members celebrating 50+ years? Or, maybe a brand new member that has made their mark in the club?

We want it all. Your stories of impact and your members are the real magic of Federation.  Send pictures and your content to Federationlu@gmail.com and we will do the rest.

CIVIC ENGAGEMENT AND OUTREACH - ANNE COCHRANE, Chair

Food Insecurity: In the FY 2024 Agriculture Appropriations Bill, Congress enacted full funding for nutrition programs, including the Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants, and Children (WIC), the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), and the Child Nutrition Program which includes the school lunch program, school breakfast program, and the Summer EBT program to ensure schools can continue to serve healthy meals to all eligible children. Utilizing our GFWC Legislative Action Center, GFWC urged Congress to strengthen these programs in the Farm Bill and provide full funding.

ARTS AND CULTURE - KELLY DAVIS, Chair

How can my club participate in Arts and Culture?

There are many ways. I would like to offer some suggestions.

Many clubs have had success in participation with Art departments of local high schools through Photography, and Digital Art. Or Support High School Drama Departments.

Yet other clubs have supported Fine Arts Scholarships to High School Seniors, Creative Writing Contests, Crafts, Fine Arts, Photography and Art contests and shows.

Painted Turtle Camp support. Celebrate America- Celebrate various countries and their culture. Sponsor a Theatre, professional community Not-for-Profit. Finally, hold Student Solo Music Competition.

Every club is great at supporting Arts and Culture. Do you have an idea that has worked for you that is not on his list? If so, let me know.
